Not yet “On” or “Off” Broadway, but right here at Pascagoula Senior Center. Please see the enclosed flyer for all the details. Lippincott’s Picnic – Bad weather forced us to reschedule our annual picnic at the Lippincott’s. New date is Tuesday, May 19. Plan to join us! We will leave the Center by 10:30am. Hope for a beautiful day! Driver’s Safety – We have an AARP Safe Driving Class scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 8:30am-12:30pm. Call Paul Vanderfin, 861-3199, or the Center, 7698329 to pre-register. Senior Safety Luncheon – 11am, Tuesday, May 5. This is one of the times that we DO NOT bring a covered dish. Lunch for all is being provided by donors that day. Plan to join us. This event is sponsored by Jackson County Triad/S.A.L.T. Council and our Senior Center. Golden Age Club – Usually meets the 2nd Thursday of each month, however during the Months of MAY AND JUNE, the GOLDEN AGE CLUB will meet the 3rd Thursday. May’s Golden Age mtg. is Thurs., May 21. June’s Golden Age Club mtg. is Thurs., June 18. Golden Age begins with fellowship at 11am. New Orleans and the WWII Museum – Thurs., May 14. This trip is full. Summer Event for Seniors @ the Civic Center –Twice a year during the months of June and December, the Jackson County Senior Awareness Committee brings together 500 senior adults for a day filled with fun, food, entertainment, door prizes and lots of information just for us. The SUMMER EVENT, “The Wild, Wild West”, will be on Thursday, June 11, 9am-2pm. Plan to attend for a great day for Jackson County’s Seniors! Gary Smith Agency is offering an Educational Medicare/Retirement Seminar on Tuesday, May 12, 10:30-11:30am. Call to pre-register, 7698329. Wreath Making – We have a great class in May. It will be a “Sunflower Wreath”. It’s been circulating on Facebook and we are going to make our version on Monday, May 18, 12:30pm. You must register and pay the fee by Noon, Friday, May 15. Cost: $25; Nancy Williams, instructor. Tuesday Luncheons in May: Tuesday, May 5 – 11am, “Senior Safety Awareness Day”; see enclosed flyer for details and plan to join us! Please see flyer enclosed. Tuesday, May 12 – “Bea Burton Appreciation Day” (HER 85th BIRTHDAY-shhhh! - It’s a surprise!)’ Tuesday, May 19 – Picnic at the Lippincott’s in Vancleave. We will offer Kayak rides on the pond and have fried catfish. Our friends, Thad and the Band Hickory Ridge, will be on hand with awesome music. Tuesday, May 26 – We will have a dramatic and real presentation on “Human Trafficking” presented by Advocates for Freedom. Fitness – The Senior Center’s Fitness Center is open Monday-Friday, 6am-5pm. HealthPlex offers orientation for new participants on the First Wednesday of each month at 11am. All participants must renew their medical forms each year. Non-Resident Fees – We collect each year in January. New clients fees are adjusted or pro-rated throughout the year so everyone’s is due in January. Non-resident fees are $50 per person per year. We will update our non-resident list in May and drop those from last year who have NOT paid. Fall Trip – We are planning a delightful trip this Fall to “The Windy City”. Yes CHICAGO! Filled with History, Architectural Marvels and right on Lake Michigan, this vibrant City is sure to please our travelers. Approximate Cost is $699 and probable dates are October 11-17. $100 deposits reserve your space. You Are What You Eat – Mary Ellen Spaulding will continue her series on how to eat “healthy and whole” on Wed., May 6, 10am.
