BoY News! It has been hopping at the shop this week and last! A revolving door of sales reps, new yarns and new projects to consider! Although we are mostly ordering for the fall, I have placed a few "NOW" orders that have already come in. Here are some of the great things that arrived this week! Interweave Knits, Summer 2013: Fabulous! Honestly, some magazine issues just seem to have better patterns than others and this is one of the "must have" magazine issues. There are tons of great patterns for the summer (or fall, if you are looking at those sweaters and live in Charlotte!). The Admiral's Knot Halter by Ashley Rao uses braided cables, short-rows and grafting in the design and had me mesmerized, I just sat and stared at the detail on the back of this sweater! I can't wear a sweater like this but I must find a way to put that detail into something I am knitting! Grignasco Revel yarn is a lace/fingering weight yarn that is a blend of Alpaca (85%!) and Merino (15%).It has long beautiful color repeats and the color choices are astounding! Below is color #14 (centered above) that Linda is knitting into a Dreambird sample for the shop. Can't you just imagine beautiful it will be when those blues, yellows and reds start peeking through too? Dream in Color Smooshy and Starry are just lovely yarns and while we've had the Smooshy before the Starry is a new fiber for us…isn't it fun to play with new yarns?! You may notice that there seems to be some skeins missing from this basket...let's just say that is one of the advantages of being in the shop during "Knit Nights"! HiKoo Caribou: I could not resist this incredibly soft "fur" yarn or the incredibly cute Caribou Critters patterns. AND, we just got news that I am going to be an aunt and Mom is going to be a Grandma again! My brother David and his sweet bride Christy are wasting no time! Check out some of the way too fun animal patterns made with Caribou: Yes, I may make one for baby to be, but I am probably making one for me too! KnitCol by Adriafil: Wow, this is one yarn that just flew out of here when I had it the first time. One cute little self-striping baby hat was all that it took! So…you know me, this time I ordered a bag in every color! And here's another KnitCol hat we found on Ravelry, isn't it great! BoY Events & Classes! Dreambird KAL! This totally popular pattern and KAL has been extended to Saturday's at 11:30 a.m! Plus, Patty just happened to see some fabulous and PERFECT yarn to use in this project…so she ordered balls in every color they had! Come in tomorrow and check them out! Stitch & Pitch is always a fun event and it is great for the entire family! We will meet at the stadium on Saturday, June 1st for the 7:15 p.m. game and cheer for the Knights! All knitters and crocheters should bring their projects and we encourage you to wear a Baskets of Yarn T-Shirt if you have one! Some of the best fireworks in the area are at the stadium and they will be shooting them off this evening!Tickets can be purchased at the store or on our website and are only $11!We have to call our ticket order in next Monday so be sure to get your tickets this weekend! Universal Yarn Tasting! We have a yarn tasting with Universal's Michael del Vecchio and Amy Gunderson scheduled for the first week in June. Hopefully by June they will have most of the new fall yarns in and they can give us a sneak peak! And YOU can tell me which yarns you love and want me to stock! Esjan Shawl: Linda Rudisill is teaching this very popular new project. Another quick wrap that you can have done in time for cool spring evenings! Linda will cover everything you need to know to make this stunningly beautiful shawl on Saturday, 5/25 at 10:30am. Portuguese: We've had several more requests so we're adding the Introduction to Portuguese Knitting class back on the schedule on Saturday, 5/18 at 10:30am and Thursday, 5/23 at 6:00pm. Learn basic techniques and leave with a Portugues knitting pin and your choice of Andrea Wongs book or DVD! Check our EVENT SCHEDULE to find out more about available classes and special events!
