What is the window tint law in Minnesota? Answer: Even if your previous state allowed tinted windows, you will now need to comply with Minnesota law: • No vehicle can have ANY tint to the front windshield. • Passenger cars are limited to 50 percent on all side and rear windows. • Pickups, vans, and SUVs are limited to 50 percent on the front side windows. • Pickups, vans, and SUVs are NOT limited on the rear side and rear windows. (Can be less than 50 percent behind the front seat). • Squad cars, limousines, and vehicles used to transport human remains by a funeral establishment are not limited on the side and rear windows. • No person shall sell, offer for sale, or use any motor vehicle with windows or windshields that have window tint on them. In my opinion, window tint obstructs your vision at night and during poor Ask a Trooper Sgt. Troy Christianson Minn. State Patrol weather conditions. It is also a safety concern for law enforcement at night. Illegally tinted windows make it nearly impossible to see in the vehicle while conducting a traffic stop. If you need to have window tint removed, you can check with a body or detailing shop or you can do it yourself. Look on the internet for advice and suggestions. Thank you Diane for your service, and thank you Katie for your willingness to serve as an advisor to the County Committee. For the new ARC/PLC farm program, the deadline to reallocate bases, update yields, make a program election, and have all paperwork returned to our office was March 31. All people who have a share of cropland acres, even grass on cropland, must sign the program election form, CCC-857. Failure to elect ARC or PLC for a farm by March 31 will result in a default PLC election for 2015 through 2018. Farms defaulted to PLC for 2015 are not eligible for 2014 payments. Take this time to update our producer record database. If you have any unreported changes of address, change in business name, change in entity members or shares, deed or lease changes, change of bank account for direct deposits, or change in phone number or email address, report these updates to our office. Changes in your farm operation, like the addition of a farm by lease or purchase, also need to be reported to our office. Bring a copy of the lease or recorded deed. FSA and NRCS program participants are required to timely report changes in their farming operation and to update their CCC902 Farm Operating Plan. If you have any updates or corrections, please call your local FSA office to update your records. Up- FSA News dating these changes now will make things go quicker later in the year when you enroll your farms for 2014 and 2015 and certify planted acres and CRP acres. Monday, March 16 was the final date to file an application for 2015 NAP (Noninsurable Crop Disaster Assistance Program) coverage on perennial forage pasture and springseeded annual crops that can not be insured. For 2015, if the producer has NAP pasture coverage from FSA and a RI-PRF or VI-PRF product from their crop insurance agent, and there are qualifying losses on both, the producer can get the NAP payment, the VI-PRF or RI-PRF payment, and LFP (Livestock Forage Program) payment. March 31 was the final date to request Marketing Assistance Loans (MAL) on 2014-crop wheat, barley, oats, and flaxseed. May 31 is the final date to request MAL on corn, soybeans, or sunflowers. CRP participants must certify their CRP cover each year. CRP participants who don’t have other annually planted acres can certify now. Call for an appointment. Everyone that has planted crops should call for an appointment to certify their planted acres when they are done planting. July 15 is the final date to certify CRP and crop acres. Continuous CRP signup is ongoing for practices like filter strips, farmable wetlands and buffers, wetland restoration, SAFE wildlife habitat, pollinator habitat, etc. Ask about CRP filter strips before they are mandated in Minnesota.
