Due to the joint support of the Deans of the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Graduate School and the Provost Office, the Graduate School is offering the two-day boot camp: Science in Industry: Combining Your Scientific, Business and Social Skills to Make You Competitive for a Professional Career        Learn the essential skills that industry values and demands from candidates  Learn how to acquire and develop during your training the essential skills that industry values Discover the wide variety of career paths available to STEM trainees Learn to analyze a job ad and develop a targeted resume that highlights the technical, business and social skills the hiring company demands Learn to build and leverage a high quality personal network Learn how to prepare for interviews by researching the company and its people Experience the interview process and learn to apply effective communications skills to successfully market your personal brand and demonstrate your value Learn to negotiate your Total Compensation Package This two- day boot camp (including a bound 116 page manual) is modeled after the popular and successful workshop “From Scientist to CSO” that has been offered at the New York Academy of Sciences for the past four years. The curriculum provides the knowledge and experience to be competitive for professional positions, become productive quickly in those positions, and maximize your chance of success. The boot camp uses a “learn by doing” experiential approach to provide you with hands on training that you can practice, refine and use quickly. Seating is limited! At the New York Academy of Sciences, a similar curriculum costs approximately $600/per person. Thanks to our generous supporters, this year, the Graduate School can offer this boot camp free of charge. This boot camp is for CU Denver STEM graduate students and postdocs, but for space reasons it will be hosted in Reading Room of the Health Science Library on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
