Coastal Sediments 2015 May 11-15, 2015 San Diego, CA, U.S.A. http://coastalsediments.cas.usf.edu/index.html Overview Coastal Sediments is an international coastal science and engineering conference which is held every four years since 1977, alternating with its sister conference, Coastal Dynamics. Approximately 300 coastal engineers and scientists attended Coastal Sediments 2011 in Miami from 22 countries, with more than 63% of the papers from the international community. The Coastal Sediments Proceedings, published by World Scientific, are peer-reviewed and highly impacting the coastal science and engineering community as tracked on Google Scholar. Coastal Sediments 2015 (CS15) is the 8th Conference in the Coastal Sediments Series. CS15 will be held in San Diego, California, with the theme of “Understanding and Working with Nature.” Nearly 310 oral and poster presentations, and accompanying full papers, were selected from abstracts submitted on a variety of topics, including 7 special sessions. Optional Short Courses will be offered in a full-day format on 11 May 2015. Short course topics tentatively include Coastal Sediment Dynamics, Statistical Approaches to Analyze the Climate Variability of Coastal Flooding and Erosion Hazards, and Regional Sediment Management. Optional Technical Tours will be offered in full-and half-day formats on 15 May 2015. Two halfday excursions will be offered including one along south San Diego coast from Point Loma to Imperial Beach, and one touring Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The full-day excursion will explore the San Diego coastline from Oceanside Harbor north to Scripps Institution of Oceanography, featuring the Carlsbad seawall, Batiquitos Lagoon, Beacons Beach bluff, and Cardiff State Beach sand nourishment site.
