April 29 2015 - College Church of Christ

A weekly thought from our
senior minister, Jason Locke
Minister’s Message
ife doesn’t always work out the
way you plan or hope. As a
matter of fact, it rarely does.
Thankfully, however, the measure
of one’s life isn’t taken from how
well one’s plans work out.
Rather, we are judged by how
well we adapt to what life gives us.
Are we faithful? Do we find ways
to be thankful? Are we able to
make something good out of what
we’ve been given?
I think of Betty & Richard Haggard. They have been such a key
part of our church since the mid60s. They certainly didn’t ask for
the scenario that has played out in
their lives in recent months. But
through it all, they’ve found ways
to laugh, to enjoy their family, and
to remain true to God. I’m thankful
for their examples of faithful
obedience in spite
of very difficult
circumstances.
I’m looking forward to Easter Sunday. As we’ve done
the past several
years, we’ll have refreshments prior
to worship. Come early to share
coffee and visit with others. We’ll
dismiss the kids toward the end of
our assembly for a short, fun activity. Be on the lookout for people to
invite. And when you’re here next
Sunday, be sure to welcome visitors
with the loving embrace of Jesus.
It’s hard to believe that the Sunday Spring Classic is just a month
away. We’ll have a special guest
speaker that day, Mark Manassee
from the Culver Palms Church of
Christ in Culver City. Can’t wait!

Adult Class News
Sue: It’s been great to have John Jacobo
back with us and feeling better. We had
a larger than usual group helping out
last Saturday at homeless ministry. Cornelia Baptist brought new helpers. Harry
Cline from Northside Christian offered
to pass out car show flyers at the Bakersfield car show. Sunday night sermon
study will not meet Easter Sunday, 4/5
and Sunday 4/12. Blessings to all those
from our group who have served in uptown, preschool, and nursery. Thank
you for your commitment. Kevin Leahy
will complete our study on the Bible
character Nehemiah. Today we enjoyed
a great study about a character that we
knew little about. Thank you, Kevin.
