Easy
Style C – With Bobbles
Main Colour (M – 0004 grey)
1 ball each in 6 contrasting colours. We used –
0002 yellow, 0005 chambray, 0006 geranium, 0007 dark
sage, 0008 denim, 0009 cream
Use only the yarn specified. Other yarns are likely to produce
different results.
Quantities are approximate as they can vary between knitters.
Check the ball bands to ensure all yarn is from the same dye lot.

1 pair each 6.00mm (UK 4) and 4.00mm (UK 8) knitting
needles or size needed to give correct tension.

TENSION
These handknits have been designed at a tension of 16 sts
and 21 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 6.00mm needles.
To work a tension square, using 6.00mm needles, cast on
24 sts. Work 30 rows stocking st. Cast off loosely.
Check your tension carefully.
If less sts to 10cm use smaller needles, if more sts use
bigger needles.
Note – These Cardigans are worked on larger needles at a
looser tension than usually recommended.

STYLE A – 2 Colours With Pockets
BACK
Using 6.00mm needles and C1, cast on 79 (87-91-99) sts.
1st row – K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.
2nd row – K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.
Rep 1st and 2nd rows 4 times … 10 rows rib in all.
Easy
Work in stocking st until Back measures 42cm from beg,
ending with a purl row.
Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg
of armholes as there is no armhole shaping.
Change to C2 for rem.
Work a further 58 (60-62-64) rows.
Shape Shoulders –
Cast off 7 (7-8-8) sts loosely at beg of next 6 rows, then
6 (9-7-10) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.
Cast off rem 25 (27-29-31) sts loosely.
LEFT FRONT
NECKBAND
Using 6.00mm needles and C1, cast on 39 (43-45-49) sts.
Work 10 rows rib as for Back.
Work in stocking st until Left Front measures same as
Back to coloured threads, ending with a purl row. **
Tie a coloured thread at end of last row to mark beg of
armhole.
Change to C2 for rem.
Work a further 47 (47-49-49) rows.
Note – We recommend using mattress stitch to sew up
your handknit.
Join shoulder seams. With right side facing, using 4.00mm
needles and C2, knit up 25 (27-28-30) sts evenly along right
side of front neck to shoulder seam, knit up 25 (27-29-31)
sts evenly across sts cast off at back neck, then knit up
25 (27-28-30) sts evenly along left side of front neck …
75 (81-85-91) sts.
Work 9 rows rib as for Back, beg with a 2nd row.
Cast off loosely in rib.
Shape Neck –
Cast off 7 (7-8-8) sts at beg of next row … 32 (36-37-41) sts.
Dec one st at neck edge in next row, then in every foll alt
row until 27 (30-31-34) sts rem.
Work 1 row.
Shape Shoulder –
Cast off 7 (7-8-8) sts loosely at beg of next row and foll
2 alt rows.
Work 1 row.
Cast off rem 6 (9-7-10) sts.
RIGHT FRONT
Work as for Left Front to **.
Tie a coloured thread at beg of last row to mark beg of
armhole.
Change to C2 for rem.
Work a further 46 (46-48-48) rows.
Shape Neck –
Cast off 7 (7-8-8) sts at beg of next row … 32 (36-37-41) sts.
Dec one st at neck edge in every foll alt row until 27 (3031-34) sts rem.
Work 2 rows.
Shape Shoulder –
Cast off 7 (7-8-8) sts loosely at beg of next row and foll
2 alt rows.
Work 1 row.
Cast off rem 6 (9-7-10) sts.
SLEEVES
Using 4.00mm needles and C2, cast on 35 (37-37-39) sts.
Work 19 rows rib as for Back.
20th row – Rib 2 (4-0-2), * inc in next st, rib 1, rep from *
to last st, rib 1 ... 51 (53-55-57) sts.
Change to 6.00mm needles.
Work 6 rows stocking st.
7th row – K2, M1, knit to last 2 sts, M1, K2.
Cont in stocking st, inc one st (as before) at each end of
every foll 8th row until there are 61 (63-65-67) sts.
Work 5 (3-3-1) rows.
Inc one st (as before) at each end of next row, then in
every foll alt row until there are 87 (91-93-97) sts.
Work 3 rows.
Cast off 8 sts loosely at beg of next 10 rows … 7 (11-1317) sts.
Cast off rem sts.
RIGHT FRONT BAND
Using 4.00mm needles and C2, cast on 9 sts.
Work 2 rows rib as for Back.
3rd row – Rib 4, yfwd (to make buttonhole), K2tog, rib 3.
Work a further 15 rows rib.
Rep last 16 rows 8 times, then 3rd row once … 10
buttonholes.
Work 3 rows rib.
Cast off in rib.
LEFT FRONT BAND
Work as for Right Front Band, omitting buttonholes.
POCKETS (make 2)
Using 6.00mm needles and C1, cast on 35 sts.
Work 34 rows stocking st.
Work 6 rows rib as for Back.
Cast off loosely in rib.
TO MAKE UP
DO NOT PRESS. Placing centre of sleeve to shoulder
seam, sew in sleeves evenly between coloured threads.
Join sleeve seams. Sew pockets to fronts, placing bottom
edge above lower band and outer pocket edge to side
edge of front. Join side seams, sewing through side edge
of pocket at same time. Sew front bands in position. Sew
on buttons.
STYLE B – With Contrasting Pockets
Work as for Style A, using M only for Back, Fronts,
Sleeves, Neckband and Front Bands.
POCKETS
Work as for Style A, using C1 for one pocket and C2 for
the other.
TO MAKE UP
Complete as for Style A.
STYLE C – With Bobbles
Work as for Style A, using M only for Back, Fronts,
Sleeves, Neckband and Front Bands.
BOBBLES
One ball will make approx 60 bobbles.
Make as many as desired in each contrast colour (we
used 48 yellow, 51 chambray, 54 geranium, 61 dark sage,
51 denim and 55 cream on our size M photo garment).
Work bobble as folls –
Using 6.00mm needles, cast on one st, leaving a 10cm
end for attaching.
(K1, P1) twice into st, turn, K4, turn, P4, turn, K4, turn,
P4, pass 2nd, 3rd and 4th sts over first st, completing
bobble. Fasten off securely, leaving a 10cm end for
attaching bobble.
TO MAKE UP
Complete as for Style A, and attaching bobbles at
random.
