Colorado Mountain College – Quick Reference Guide 2014/2015
How to Meet Assessment Requirements:
1. For placement, if a student already has both W (Writing) and R (Reading Comprehension) scores that places them in different levels, and
if the student is first time enrolling in college and hasn’t taken other ENG/RDG courses, then the lowest of the two scores will determine
placement.
2. If students have been enrolled in college and have tested into Dev Ed courses but haven't taken any Dev Ed courses yet, the Writing (W)
scores should be used to determine placement.
3. If students have taken any 100-level course in the four discipline strands (Communication, Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, and
Science) and passed it with C- or better, they are eligible to enroll in 100 level courses, with the exception of ENG 121 and courses
requiring ENG 121 as a prerequisite.
4. NOTE: ACT, SAT, and Accuplacer must be no more than five years old.
