A covered Portico welcomes visitors to the main entrance of the facility
When operators of Ingersoll Residence decided
to replace their 80 year-old Schenectady facility,
they chose Angerame Architects, a firm from
Albany, New York with extensive experience
in senior living design. The new, $10 million
dollar Ingersoll Place Assisted Living Facility in
nearby Niskayuna accommodates 72 individuals,
including space for 17 memory-impaired
residents. In addition to the studio, one-bedroom,
and suite apartments, the community offers spas,
sun rooms, gardens with raised planting beds, a
library and a unisex salon.
Bandelier with iLoc ES backing was used throughout the offices
Cambridge Select’s Bandelier with proprietary
iLoc® ES backing was used throughout the office
spaces. iLoc ES contains 12% post-consumer
recycled material and offers Lifetime Warranties
against wear, delamination, static, and zippering,
effectively eliminating the need for protective
chair pads at desks and conference areas.
For the front entrance and public spaces,
Angerame interior designer Elizabeth Fanning
chose Aqua Hospitality’s Chanterelle, a tipsheared loop whose sweeping scale and floral
motif enhance the Arts and Crafts interiors’
emphasis on natural elements. “The organic
pattern brings the outside in, with beautiful colors
the residents can see easily,” Fanning said.
Interior designer Elizabeth Fanning says Chanterelle’s organic pattern
complements the facility’s Arts and Crafts interiors.
Ms. Fanning incorporated custom colors in the
hallways, public spaces, and dining area carpets.

For the important residential areas, Ingersoll
Place installed over 2,000
square yards of Cambridge Commercial
style Tango with iLoc MB backing. A smallscale, textured loop pattern, Tango, which
offers the added benefit of Puralex® selfrenewing odor neutralizer, is well suited for
use in assisted living facilities. The optional
iLoc MB backing offers the same Lifetime
Warranties as iLoc ES, plus an enhanced
microbial moisture barrier – an obvious plus
in handling spills and accidents. iLoc MB
has 7% post-consumer content.
Ms. Fanning has recently finished design
work on a second assisted living facility
where she specified Aqua Hospitality,
Cambridge Commercial, and Bolyu Contract
carpets with Puralex, iLoc ES and iLoc MB
backings.
At Ingersoll Place, general manager Jim
McPhee says residents and their families
have been impressed with the beauty
of the new facility. “The color schemes
and interiors flow nicely,” he says. “The
setting is lovely and the atmosphere is very
welcoming.”
Custom patterns and colors were used in corridors and public areas. “The
atmosphere is very welcoming,” says Ingersoll Place general manager Jim Mcphee.
