crisis. The simulator, controlled by an instructor, allows

Firefighter Education

• Both theory and extensive hands-on practice
• Learn how fire departments operate the kind of
equipment used on the job, techniques, rescue
strategies, fire apparatus operation,
and emergency care for patients
• Courses on fire behaviour and combustion
chemistry as well as hazardous material
awareness

• Students experience the everyday reality
of firefighting by practicing skills in a burn tower

and Youth Care

with the 3-year CYW diploma with a GPA
70% or more and either grade 12 or College
equivalent English with a grade 70% or more
• CYW graduates could complete the 4-year
BCYC degree with an additional 2 years
• Graduates of SSW, ECE and CJS diploma
programs are also eligible for transfer
credits but will still require the full four
years to complete the BCYC credential

Certificate
Launched in the fall of 2014, Humber’s innovative new
Global Citizenship Certificate (GCC) prepares students
for engaged living in a culturally diverse and rapidly
changing world. Through a combination of academic
courses, travel experiences and extra-curricular
activities, students will gain a highly valued global
perspective, deepening their understanding of human
diversity, interconnectedness, and cultural
complexity and enhancing their sense of personal
and community responsibility.

Humber graduates with an overall GPA of 70 per cent
or more will be considered for admission to Humber’s
Bachelor of Child and Youth Care degree program in
over 25 educational institutions.
Global experience is invaluable in today’s
interconnected world. Each year close to 300 Humber
students go abroad for an enriching study and work
experience. Whether just starting to research options,
or actively preparing for departure, here students will
find information and resources to guide them through
every step.
