Application Guide
The ICCB-ECCB 2015 Travel Awards Committee is happy to consider applications for travel
reimbursement awards to help offset costs for qualifying delegates to attend SCB's 27th International
Congress for Conservation Biology and 4th European Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB-ECCB) in
Montpellier, France from 2-6 August 2015.
The availability of travel reimbursement funds is determined by the amount of money raised through
sponsorships. The individual reimbursement award will vary between $500 and $1,000 USD. The
application is open now through 27 February. Applicants will be notified of the status of their
application by Travel Awards Committee by 20 March 2015.
Important: Before you start your application, please read page 2/3 of this Guide under the heading
"Completing the Online Application Form – Explanations." Applications that do not follow the
instructions will not be considered.
Before you apply, please consider

Eligibility: Delegates from the following groups may apply for a Travel Reimbursement Award
o All students
o Residents of developing countries
o Residents of EU countries that have accessed or are currently accessing the European
Stability Mechanism, the congress also being an ECCB (Cyprus, Greece, Ireland,
Portugal, Spain)
o Organisers of a pre-congress training course

Preference: You must meet the eligibility criteria above to apply for a travel reimbursement
ward. Applicants increase their chances of receiving an award if they:
o Are members of SCB
o Are presenting at ICCB-ECCB 2015, and if
o Their abstracts receive the best evaluations by the Travel Awards Committee.

Completing the online application form - Explanations
Do not worry about format when filling in the required details (e.g. high vs. low caps, italics, visibility,
etc.).
Field: “First name”, “Last (family) name”:
Should be self-explanatory.
Field: “Country”:
Indicate your country of current residency.
Field: “Postal Address”:
Provide your postal address.
Field: “Email”:
Give your email address.
Field: “Student”: Are you currently a full-time student?
Provide name and address of the university, and your study programme. Otherwise insert “no”.
Field: “Trainer”: Are you organising a pre-congress training course?
Indicate the title of the training course. Otherwise insert “no”.
Field: “Funding”: Are you actively looking for travel funding elsewhere?
To be filled in only by organisers of a pre-congress training course and residents of Cyprus, Greece,
Ireland, Portugal, Spain: Please describe your efforts of applying for travel funding elsewhere.
Field: “Activities”: Are you otherwise actively contributing to ICCB-ECCB 2015?
Please indicate the category and title of your presentation (symposium talk and title of symposium,
contributed talk or poster) and/or otherwise active role (organiser of a symposium, round-table
discussion - RTD, thematic poster exhibition - TPE).
For example:
• Symposium “Conservation of Crumple-Horned Snorkacks”, Talk “Crumple-Horned Snorkack
migration stopovers”
• Contributed poster “Antagonistic Interactions between Phoenixes and You-know-who”
• Organiser TPE “Dementors and climate change mitigation”
Field: “Abstract”:
Fill in the abstract of your talk or poster. Leave out title and the list of authors. Organiser of a precongress training course, symposium, RTD or TPE: please leave this cell empty.
If you are among the awardees, you will be asked for your preferred reimbursement payment mode.
If you have a Paypal account, it is a much more convenient option. If not, a certain portion of the
reimbursement (usually $50 USD) will be taken by the bank as an international money transfer fee.
Successful applicants for whom neither of these options is a possibility will have their conference fees
and accommodation costs waived.
