Gold jacquard embroidered tie back top. PRE-FALL 2014 COLLECTION London, January 2014, Issa presents Pre-Fall 2014, the first collection from Creative Director Blue Farrier. Tasked with evolving the brand, Farrier has taken signature Issa elements including draping, print, and feminine silhouettes, and reworked them to fresh effect. The Collection is given greater depth through the development of tailoring and separates to offer a more comprehensive range. The Collection is inspired by the brands London home and takes an affectionate look at the peculiarly British environs of Park Lane and Mayfair. These traditional elements are transformed with a modern aesthetic, and this sense of juxtaposition is echoed in the Collection colours; soft blush, nude and cream tones are offset with bright pink, emerald, azure and gold. Prints feature delicate illustrations; Georgian townhouses, perfume bottles and antique jewellery are depicted on gently draped shirts and a jumpsuit, whilst the inspiration points of Mayfair and Park Lane are more literally referenced through calligraphy running across dresses, shirts and scarves. A polka dot print appears in varying scales and executions; ranging from small, regular dots, to oversized dotted trims on dresses and shirts, to a softer all over petal print. These printed dots are then replicated texturally, on a tonal jacquard poncho and trousers. Embellishment is a key theme; menswear inspired collar pins appear on feminine shirts, whilst a trapeze shape double faced wool coat is fastened with a vintage inspired bottle. Ornate clusters of costume jewellery are used as brooch fastenings on shirts and embroidered onto necklines of gold chiffon and jacquard tops, whilst trousers feature taped sides with chain embroidery. Gross grain bows achieve an unexpected, structural effect when densely packed on a crepe de chine cami and skirt. The brands signature wrap dresses are developed with roll neck and colour block versions, and their fastenings are created to offer versatility in belting; whether wrapped traditionally or loosely fastened for a more relaxed attitude. This draping theme is reworked and developed throughout the collection; a silk jersey top features a deeply plunging back, whilst shirts are softly draped and feature flowing panels, and silk jersey trousers are given relaxed elegance with a draped front. Tailoring ranges from relaxed fit pyjama style suits, to boxy jackets paired with high waisted wide leg trousers and shirting, and structured coats and capes in double faced wool.
