Eileen announced birthdays and we all sang.... MEETING NOTES FROM NOVEMBER 14TH Joyce and Willa spoke about Stitches in the Snow. Information to follow in this newsletter. The meeting was called to order by Joyce Schrello at 7:00 pm. Joyce spoke about our holiday dinner at Lindy's home on December 12th. See additional information found under "Upcoming Programs and Events." Treasurers Report - Michelle won the name badge drawing. Old Business - Willa also spoke about The Interweave Knitting Lab that she attended that was held in San Mateo. Sheilah presented the slate of officers for 2012 for vote. Marian reported that the bank balance is $2,987.89. Marian also discussed with us that she is moving up north for a job transfer. Jean Carnes will take over the job of Treasurer which she has done so well in the past. Best of luck Marian and we will all miss you. Best of luck in your new position and please keep in touch! Lois Watson announced the winner of the contest for items made for Camp Pendleton. Muriel was first place with 48 sweaters plus 14 with hats. coming together at the weekly knit-ins as well as the monthly meetings. You have done an amazing job supporting the philanthropic projects. It seems to me that we really celebrate each others completed pieces and acknowledge the progress we are making in the craft we all love to share. I thank you, one and all. Adrienne also won a prize for her 10 hats. I look forward to sharing our holiday celebration on the12th with you. Best wishes for an amazing Congratulations to you both! What an accomplishment for such a worthy cause. New Year filled with lots of colorful fibers knit into fabulous garments. Many thanks to our guild members, especially Susie Jenkins and her group of ladies who donated over 350 hats plus other items. And of course Muriel's 48 sweaters making a total of 75 for Camp Pendleton. For a small guild we have done a great job. Thank you, thank you, again! Lois Joyce I OUR PRESIDENT'S NOTE Dear Purlers, It seems impossible that two years have passed since taking on the presidency of High Tide Purlers. The journey has been great fun due in large part to the incredible support my fellow officers have afforded me. Our long-time members have become a tightly knit group with the wonderful ability to welcome and include newcomers. Because of this capacity our numbers have grown and everyone seems to enjoy NEEDLE FELTING WITH MARCIA Marcia discussed felting with the group. She explained needle felting and shared many items she has made. What a talent! SHOW AND SHARE FROM NOVEMBER 14TH Adrienne presented her Fairy and Petal purse. She used size 1 and 5 needles and the pattern is from Knit Simple. She also shared an afghan she made out of Caron Simply Soft made on size 17 needles. Bea presented a vest made out of 100% wool. The pattern is Easy Vest. Lois, Lyn and Bea in their Joint Sweaters. The yarn is Twisted Sisters pattern made out of wool and silk. The pattern is Pythagorean. Gita shared her market bag made out of kitchen cotton. Anne made this Christmas stocking on size 6 needles and it is made out of wool. Please see Anne for the pattern. Anne also shared her 3/4 sleeve diagonal pullover sweater. It is her original design. Jean shared herTriplicity Shawlette made from 55% merino superwash and 28% acrylic and 17% nylon. It is Simplicity by Hikoo. The patters is from Skacel Knit along. Lois shared this adorable Christmas Stocking. The pattern is Knit-O Graf Nancy shared these beautiful socks. The pattern is "Not Just Socks" made on a US size 2 circular needle. Kathy presented a beautiful scarf. Please see her for information on this project. Nancy shared this beautiful scarf that doubles as a hat. I have no slip so see Nancy for the pattern and yarn information. Lindy presented a sweater she made for her daughter. The project is Ahlstrom Bodice Lou Schiela. The yarn is Silky Merino Sublime on #7 needles. UPCOMING PROGRAM AND EVENTS HOLIDAY PARTY Lindy has again, opened her lovely home to us for our holiday party, December 12th at 5:30 pm. The directions to Lindy's home: Susan presented this baby hat made for grandchild Sabrina. The yarn is Encore and the trim is TuTu. Strands and Stitches carries this in some really beautiful colors.
