our story
T
he first journals we created in 1998 drew admiration and applause from delighted
friends and family. After significant interest from local ski resorts and boutiques,
we knew we had found support for our high-quality handmade leather products. Rustico was officially founded in 2001 and, on the strength of its top-grain cowhide and
all products
made with
recycled paper
proprietary tanning recipes, has become a respected maker of handmade and custom
leather products.
Rustico makes handmade products that are 100% American from materials to craft. We
purchase all our leathers from tanners here in the United States. We have our colors and
tanning finishes specifically designed by us and produced when ordered. All of the leather
we use is top-grain cowhide, and is a thicker weight leather than most other companies.
When you choose a Rustico product, you get a unique piece that is designed to showcase
leather’s weathered and aged patina. It’s not only the leather that is beautiful, our papers
are also a thicker weight, with hand torn deckled edge. We use either post-consumer
recycled paper to help with the environment or a cotton-rag blended paper that is excellent
for all types of writing or drawing instruments. We strive to make sure the products we use
to produce our pieces are the highest quality.
