Transit Notice May 5, 2015 Streetcar overhead power line work King Street East - Sumach Street to King/Queen Bridge Date: May 5 to May 8, 2015 (Night work) Content/timeline accurate at time of printing Work Progress of the King Street East bridge rehabilitation work has reached a point where TTC electrical crews can begin reinstating the streetcar overhead power line infrastructure on King Street East from Sumach Street to the King/Queen Bridge. Night work hours Due to the complexity of this overhead work and to complete it in a safe manner, TTC conducts this type of work overnight throughout its network. In this instance, overhead crews will work overnight starting at 1:00 a.m. However, in an effort to complete this work as quickly as possible, some work will also be conducted during the day. Equipment On average, four to five TTC overhead trucks with hydraulic equipment will be used to carry out this work. While efforts will be made by the crew to keep noise to a minimum, beeping sounds from back-up alarms on the TTC trucks will be audible. Illumination from equipment lights may also be noticeable. Traffic movement During certain phases of the work, lane restrictions will be necessary on King Street East. The TTC thanks you for your patience while structural repairs were being made to the City of Toronto bridge requiring our service to be diverted. Streetcars will resume regular routing on King Street East between Parliament Street and Queen Street East in the near future.
