1. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Process & Control Technician is responsible for optimising process flows and for
identifying and rectifying process problems in the production environment. This will
be achieved through planning, administering and reviewing current manufacturing
processes, and through the development of control systems based solutions for
systematic processes of work.
Liaising with Production Managers/Supervisors and working closely with various
technical staff including ICT and Project Engineers you will identify and implement
business systems and process improvements across the production environment.
2. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Systems
 Project manage business systems and process improvements across the
Hazeldene’s
 Lead in monitoring, reviewing identifying and implementing processes to drive
continuous improvement activities through the execution of best practice
 Monitor product quality to ensure conformance with quality standards and
customers' requirements
 Development & implementation of systems & processes to assist production
planning, adding business value
 Ongoing development of Business Solutions relating to Control Systems
Infrastructure, & other technological advances
 Implement standard engineering practices as well as provide detailed
documentation upon project completion.
 Ensure planned key performance indicators in production efficiency and
performance are met or exceeded
 Implement systems of preventive maintenance of equipment and machines
 Lead in monitoring, reviewing identifying and implementing processes to drive
continuous improvement activities through the execution of best practice
 Document and implement Good Manufacturing Practices
 Monitor product quality to ensure conformance with quality standards and
customers' requirements
Staff Management
 Support OH&S and Quality Representatives as required
 Participate in training and development of staff to meet business objectives
 Adopt good communication practices to ensure free flow of information that
will empower and enhance staff morale and efficiency and production
requirements.
Quality & OHS Systems
 Ensure compliance to all Government Legislative requirements
 Assist QA and OHS departments with issues raised relative to processing and
sales responsibilities including the accurate completion of all paperwork on a
daily basis
 Be proactive in improving safe work practices and workplace environment
 Monitor, apply and promote Company policies in all work practices
 Understand and implement SOP's consistent with OH&S Policies and
Company policies and procedures
 Assist the OH&S function to implement Occupational Health and Safety,
aiming to eliminate injuries

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:
Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
 Proven experience as a Process/Control Systems Technician &/or exposure
to process control in a manufacturing environment
 Engineering/ Management or trade background &/or a strong technical/
electrical aptitude
 Excellent working knowledge of computer & control systems equipment and
operations
 Experience in business re-engineering and transformation programs
 Experience in change management and its implementation across the
business
 A natural passion for continuous improvement, quality and a ‘can-do attitude








Must possess the ability to learn and adapt to a multitude of different systems
quickly as well as provide systems training to both Maintenance & Production
departments
High level of interpretative skills of technical processes with the ability to
communicate this in effective terms to the business
High level trouble shooting skills
Experience in negotiation of supply services and agreements with company
contractors and suppliers
Sound understanding of OH&S principles
Knowledge and support of continuous improvement principles
PLC’s, SCADA, Variable Frequency Drives, Remote I/O, weighing systems,
bar code scanners, and basic network systems
Understanding of food processing, HAACP
Interpersonal Skills
 Excellent stakeholder engagement both internal and external
 Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills and experience consulting
across and multi-disciplined business
 Confidentiality and privacy is a necessity
 High level of initiative
