undersigned, do hereby waive and release and forever
discharge any and all rights and claims for damages which I
may have hereafter accrue to me while traveling to and from or
participating in the Cpl Christopher G. Scherer Memorial “I Did
The Grid” 4 Mile Run / Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run, against the
Cpl Christopher G. Scherer Semper Fi Fund, Inc., Northport
East Northport School District, Town of Huntington, County of
Suffolk, State of New York and their respective police, fire and
emergency agencies, or their respective officers, agents,
representative, or successors along with any sponsor,
supporters and volunteers of said event(s), as a result of my
participation in said run(s).
I hereby attest and verify that I have full knowledge of the risks
involved in participating in this event(s) and that I am physically
fit and sufficiently trained to participate. The application
warrants that my physical condition has been verified by a
licensed medical doctor. Further, I hereby grant full permission
for the free use of my name, picture or likeness in any account
for the promotion of this race and use of any other record of this
event for any legitimate purpose whatsoever.
If signed by a parent, the parent agrees to release and hold the
above named organizations and persons harmless of any
claims which may be asserted by or on the behalf of the
entrant.

Fallen Warrior Wreath Laying Ceremony
at 11:30am.
Parking will be available at
Northport High School located at
154 Laurel Hill Road, Northport
Please Do Not park on the race course.
Course: The I Did The Grid 4 mile course has 31
turns and you will never run another one like it. We
like to call it the Fenway Park of road races. The
streets will be blocked from traffic by our local
police and fire department. For the safety of all
runners and walkers, proceed with caution! Runners
and walkers participate at their own risk.

Purchasing one t-shirt enables us to send 3 pairs
of socks to our Marines who are serving in harms
way. Team Chris shirts and assorted items will be
available on Friday and Saturday at registration!

On the morning of the race we ask that you promise
not to forget, nor let your children or their children
forget that Chris and his fellow warriors died so that
we might live free. To honor Chris and all of the
men and women who have given their lives in
service to the United States of America we ask that
you give up any personal awards for this day.
Instead each race bib will have the printed name of
four fallen heroes from either Operation Enduring
Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. Each
participant will carry those names and upon
completion of the course will ring a bell to signify
that those Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, Sailors,
Soldiers or Marines named on the bib will be
remembered for making the ultimate sacrifice. This
fundraising event allows us to provide scholarships
and support active servicemen and women as well
as our local veterans.

We welcome additional donations for our
"Wounded Warrior Service Dog Project".
Team Chris would like to continue its initiative to
sponsor service dogs for our wounded veterans
returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Service dogs may be trained to help provide
balance, fetch and retrieve dropped items and
carry a backpack for their disabled veteran.
Similarly, combat stress relief dogs will provide
emotional support for service members
experiencing combat stress or PTSD.
