Rod Perry Hangs On to W in the 62nd PGA Stroke Play Championship
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.- On February 6, 2015 Rod Perry shot an even-par 72, securing a one-stroke victory
in the 62nd PGA Stroke Play Championship presented by Premier Golf and GOLF ADVISOR. Rod finished with a
72-hole total of 12-under-par 276, one stroke better than two-time defending champion Bob Sowards of
Dublin, Ohio. Sowards, playing one group ahead of Perry, shot 69 after missing a short birdie putt on the 18th
green. "Sometimes you have to be lucky and today I got that," said Rod. "Bob is such a great player, and I
figured I had to be at least 5-under to stay with him. I thought I had tossed it away at 18.1dodged a couple of
bullets today." This is Rod's second PGA Stroke Play Championship and first since 2007. He opened the final
round with a two-stroke lead and pushed the advantage to four midway through his round. But, Perry closed
the victory by finishing triple bogey-birdie-bogey to earn a $5,000 check and a large measure of relief.

A Message From Your Board
Thank you to all who attended the February Information Meeting and to
those candidates who spoke.
Election night is March 12.
Please plan to attend the meeting. We encourage all to complete the proxy
vote option you received in the mail. This is basically pre-voting instructing
the committee how to cast your vote. You select your choices and give
permission for the "secretary" to cast that vote. Mail the vote back in the
pre addressed envelope. This enables the committee to more efficiently
count all the votes. (We have over 400 members).
You may also vote in person at the meeting. Remember to also vote for the
budget.
We'd like to thank all involved in bringing us Loren and Mark. What a
wonderful show. Thanks to Gina Gibson and her committee. We have had
many requests to bring them back.
Our next planned actives are a Welcome Ice Cream Social in March and a
4th of July BBQ in July. Please contact the Board if you have an activity
idea.
We hope to see you March 12 for our Annual Information Meeting. We
want you to be a part of electing the new Board of Directors.
WE WON'T BE UNDERSOLD! PRICE MATCH GUARANTEE!

THANK YOU
I would like to thank all of my
Friends and neighbors for all of
their heartfelt concern, prayers,
and support, during his illness and
after the passing of my loving
husband, Tony.
Tony just loved living in Crane
Lakes, For 16 years, being one of
the “first” residents, Tony was right
there to greet all of our new
neighbors as they moved in. He
loved sitting in the carport and
visiting with all of our friends and
talking about his “Golfing Days”
here.
I am so proud to be able to be part
of such a loving Community.
Thank You From the bottom of my
heart for all you have done for me
during this time, I know you will be
here for support.
Love,
Nellie Calanni
They have been so busy that they
missed the deadline for The Crane
Courier. Just wanted you to know
what has been going on.
Last month two new ladies, Beverly
and Jeanne, joined us for lunch at
Applebee’s. We had such a good
time.
Plans were made for lunch at The
Dog Race Track in March and a tour
of The Daytona Speedway in April.
In case you are new in our
neighborhood, let me tell you about
our organization. Our Great, Grand
Madam turned 80 n 10/10/10 and she
decided we needed to get all of our
ladies 80 and over together for a fun
time. And since our ladies were born
in the era of the depression,
prohibition, prostitution, mobs and
speakeasy’s, our club is geared in
that direction.

Local Talent W arms Hearts
Saturday night came alive Jan. 24th
when the cast and organizers of Crane
Lakes’ Got Talent presented solid talent,
pleasing merriment and cohesive patriotism
to a clubhouse packed with appreciators.
Although the event featured
noteworthy performers of show biz caliber, it
wouldn’t have been the same without the
contributions made by the full cast.
Wif Lesperance directed the
production, attracting a large group of
residents who signed on for weeks of
rehearsal. She conducted the program
nicely, enlisting her husband, as well. He
fulfilled the memorable role of a female
customer in the cosmetologist shop of
‘Lolita’, played by Ruth Moore.
And that’s where the fun began.
Both Dick Lesperance and Moore had
opened the show with a skit portraying her
as an inadvertent souse, one who
whimsically developed into the endearing
‘Lupita’ in a later skit. With accomplished
weaving about and soft-spoken, though
hap-hazard, attention to nostril and facial
hairs, she was thorough in her
entertainment.
It was Ceil McGill who set a high
standard for local talent, singing “Love is a
Many Splendored Thing”, and “Sound of
Music”, claiming the high notes with ease
and putting her shine on the show.
There were dancers whose energy
and endurance would have superseded that
of most of the audience, who applauded
what must have been countless hours of
practice. Joyce Brown tickled the crowd as
a genial vamp, becoming both Dolly Parton
and Marilyn Monroe, no small feat.
The handsome, newly-received organ was a
showcase for Barbara Dugan’s talents in the
first half and Joan Moran .1 in the second.
Sam Sholtz enriched the program with two
magical moves, magician indeed, known as
Samson’. With a showman’s ease Samson
perplexed the crowd with polish.
An assortment of singers provided
familiar tunes, a rarity for our age group..
The new Crane Lakes Quartet crooned
‘Paper Doll’ an ‘Up a Lazy River’. The
dapper group seems to be led by John
Thomas, the stronghold of that group as
well as a soloist. Neil Diamond himself, had
he been available that night, would have
applauded Thomas’s renditions of
“Morningside’ and “Play Me.’
Eric Ernst and his wife Pat, were
charming in a duet, and he added a smooth
move on “Young at Heart” later in the
program .It was Bud Egglefield who
combined both the piano and a trumpet for
his first number, Route 66’
It was the audience of Crane Lakes
residents who shared clear, vigorous
patriotism. No group anywhere has
delivered the Pledge of Allegiance and ‘God
Bless America’ with more fervor and
meaning it. Director Lesperance
summoned Bud to honor veterans in the
audience by playing military theme songs
on his trumpet for each branch of service.
In short, talent was delivered home style to
a satisfied audience.

again this year in relocating here to beautiful Crane Lakes. We have sold 8 of
our listings so far this year in just the first 7 weeks of this year. We continue to

Do you know someone who would enjoy the amenities and the lifestyle
that Crane Lakes has to offer its residents? If you do why not invite them here
to see our nice variety of approximately 7 homes listed for sale through our

month of March, we will show our thanks with a $100 check to you when they
actually close on their home purchase. We sincerely appreciate your continued

Farewell-Get together"
God couldn't be everywhere, so He made us Friends
On January 31, I was so humbled as I walked into the Ballroom and saw so
many faces. The tears showed my surprise as well as my joy. For those of
you who joined me on this awesome day, I thank you and will forever see your
faces.
My "Roasters" made me laugh, cry, and turn crimson; I love you for that!
Leaving Crane Lakes pulls at my heart, but living here has become a burden
on my bank account. My kids have summer homes in Mystic Island (Little Egg
Harbor, NJ) and for the past few years I have been going there. I really love it
there.....my door will always be open for your visit.
I really want to thank the friends who made this day happen for me: Carol
Tevis, Dollie Peralta, Barb Libby, Bunny Clark, and Margaret Brim. You are
the BEST!!!
Friends are a blessing for sure, so when I count my blessings, I also count
my friends.
Thanks for caring about me!
