GUILDFORD EAST & WEST SCOUT DISTRICTS
St GEORGE’S DAY PARADE
Sunday 26th April 2015 at Guildford Cathedral
The arrangements for the annual St George’s Day Parade this year are as
follows;
Please ensure your child reports to their leader in the road by the Ivy Arts Centre
(old University sports hall) by 2.20pm., and that they are in full uniform, but have
a waterproof coat if forecast is for rain.
Car Parking -
Parking is at the University, not the Cathedral, and is
restricted so please follow the marshal’s directions.
Assemble -
Groups will form up along the road adjacent to the Ivy Arts
Centre (old sports hall) under the direction of the parade
marshal, who will set the groups off at 2.40pm to walk up the
hill to the Cathedral.
Toilets -
These are situated in the PATS building at the assembly
point and in the refectory at the Cathedral; there are no
toilets inside the cathedral.
Service -
This will start at 3.00pm and will last for approximately 1
hour, after which the groups will file out of the Cathedral and
form up behind their flags, where the District Commissioners
will dismiss them on Cathedral Green, where you should
collect from.
Parents -
There will be some space for you to attend the service,
should you wish. This will be through the West door (to the
left) and as directed by the stewards after all the groups are
seated.
Thank You -
For ensuring your son / daughter attends this parade, as it is
the only time all sections meet together to renew their scout
promise
Yours in Scouting
