Summer Sunday Worship to be at 9:30 AM
For the months of July and August we will have one Eucharist service on Sundays at 9:30 AM. Fifty-five members of the
congregation participated in the online poll about Summer Worship. 73% said that worship at 9:00, 9:30 or 10:00 AM
would be the most convenient. Thanks to all who participated.
Celebrating Ben Smith
The Rev. Ben Smith, Canon for the Arts, has decided to leave the staff of the Cathedral at the end of May. Ben will
continue to worship with and support the life of the Cathedral community but he will no longer serve on the staff. To
thank Ben for his many years of service we are collecting gifts to go toward a purse that will be presented on Sunday,
May 31, 2015. If you would like to make a nondeductible gift write a check to Cathedral of the Incarnation and write
“Ben Smith Gift” in the memo line. You can also make a gift online at the Cathedral website, www.incarnationbmore.

Youth Update
Reminder for parents of our J2A Class that a meeting is schedule for class time today! We have a lot happening in the
next few weeks – so don’t miss out. Thank you all for reading our Club M reflection last week. We are ever filled with
joy that our young people are scholars and social justice activists in the making. – Peace, Kate
SUNDAY FORUMS: SUNDAY AT 9:15 AM
Rowan Williams for Beginners with Dan McClain
We will explore the thought of the former Archbishop of Canterbury, the Right Reverend Rowan Williams. Before
becoming a bishop, Williams was already a distinguish theologian, fluent in several languages including Russian, and
known for his ground-breaking work on both early Christian theology and Russian theology, as well as some collections
of his own poetry. This forum will give participants some of the key building blocks of Williams’ thought, and will offer
suggestions for additional, independent reading.
May 24, 2015So Much More Than “Eat your vegetables.” Presentation from Karen Wright.
Sunday Morning Bible Study
Bible Study: The Letters of John
Now through June 14th we are offering a great opportunity to dive into study and conversation using N. T. Wright’s
book The Letters of John (Bible Study for Everyone). All are welcome to join in what is sure to be a lively discussion
on Sunday mornings from 9 to 10 AM in Room C. The book is available ($8.00) at St. Bede’s bookstore for advance
preparation, which is recommended, but absolutely not required. There are copies of the Bible in various translations
for your use in Room C, so no need to bring your own. If you have questions, please contact the study group facilitator
Anne Bruder ([email protected]) or Deacon Jon Shematek ([email protected]). N.T. WRIGHT is the
former Bishop of Durham in the Church of England and one of the world’s leading biblical scholars. He is now serving
as the Chair of New Testament and Early Christianity at the School of Divinity at the University of St. Andrews.
Concert of American Music
Mark your calendars! Soprano Autumn Boyle and Canon for Music and Worship Ken Brown will kick off Memorial Day
weekend with a beautiful and entertaining program of American music on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Cathedral of the
Incarnation at 7:30 PM. The musicians will present an evening of songs by all-American composers, including Aaron
Copland, Samuel Barber and Richard Rodgers The program is a wonderful mix of jazz standard favorites, American art
songs, and fanfares. The evening will culminate in the singing of patriotic hymns, wherein the audience will be invited
to sing along! This special concert is a great way to experience the history of our country, as well as commemorate
the fallen on Memorial Day weekend. Admission is free; however, a freewill offering will be collected, with a suggested
donation of $10 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Cathedral music fund.
Sacristy and Vesting Room Renovations
Thanks to a generous donation from a member of the Cathedral we have freshly painted walls in the sacristy, vesting
room, flower room and entry hall. We are very grateful for this contribution and for the hard work of the altar guild,
flower guild and vergers to make the rooms ready for the painter. We would also like to refinish the floors, have the
rugs cleaned, and update some of the lighting. Are you able to help? We have already received $400 in additional gifts
but we will need approximately $2,000 to make these renovations. If you can contribute please make your check out to
“Cathedral of the Incarnation” and write “renovations” in the memo. You can also give online at our website.
Multi-Language Pentecost Reading
We are looking for people who are fluent speakers of languages besides English to take part in a multi-language reading
of Acts 2:1-21 on Pentecost Sunday, May 24th at 10:30 AM. You must be available for a rehearsal will take place before
the service at 9:30. Please email Rob Boulter [email protected] if you are interested and let him know the
language you speak.
Data-thon!!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make calls for the data-thon, and to all the members who picked up their
phones to take those calls, as well as to all those who returned their voicemails. Over 150 households were reached:
That’s 50% of our entire membership! Enough to call it a great success. There will be a table in the front entrance
TODAY, where volunteers will be collecting information. Please feel free to stop by if you have not updated your
information.
ERICA’s Week of Connection
Enjoy ERICA’s Week of Connection as a VOLUNTEER! We need more help at each event -- Rain in a Dry Land on

Seeing the Face of God
Seeing the Face of God in Each Other Anti-racism Workshop is the authorized methodology that was created by
the Episcopal Church. Since 2010 nearly 300 people have completed it in the Diocese of Maryland. In 2003, this
workshop became a requirement for all clergy, those seeking ordination, all persons in leadership positions who serve
on committees, commissions, agencies and boards, Chapter and vestries, and professional staff. Persons interested in
changing systems that prevent us from being the Body of Christ are also welcome to attend. The Cathedral will host
this two part workshop in June.
Part I Sunday June 7th, 12:30 p.m. - 7:00 PM
Part II Sunday June 14th, 12:30 p.m. - 7:00 PM
Cathedral Children’s and Youth Choir Musical
On Sunday, June 7, the Cathedral Children’s and Youth Choirs will be presenting “Malice in the Palace: The Story
of Esther.” This musical retelling of the Old Testament story has all the ingredients for a great Hollywood thriller: a
spirited heroine, a dark-hearted villain, a twisting plot full of danger and intrigue, and a cliffhanger of a climax. And in
the midst of this excitement we find a powerful message that even the smallest person acting bravely—and with faith
in God—can make an enormous difference. The kids are working hard to bring this message to you and hope you’ll
join them for their performance during the 10:30 service on June 7.
Rev. Erv Brown’s 50th Anniversary of Ordination at Memorial Episcopal
You are cordially invited to join in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Rev. Erv. Brown’s ordiantion. The service at 9:30
AM on Sunday June 7 will be followed by a very festive brunch. If you are unable to attend, we will be happy to share
anote from you, or photo, or anything else you are able to send. RSVP [email protected] 1407 Bolton
Street, Baltimore MD 21217
Attention Graduates
On Sunday, June 7 we will celebrate all those in our Cathedral community graduating from high school, college, and
post-college programs! We will honor the high school graduates as part of the liturgy and pray for all our graduates
in the prayers. Please submit to the office ([email protected]) the name of the graduate, degree and/or
school, and future plans, if known by June 1st.
