Older Adult Programming

Learn about and experience the health benefits
and uses of essential oils and aromatherapy in
activity programming. In a hands-on,
interactive workshop, discover oils from around
the world, mixology techniques, and safe
therapeutic uses guaranteed to enhance your
activity calendar. Create a fun craft using oils
for yourself! In our ongoing efforts to constantly
creatively stimulate our residents and focus on
their wellness, don't forget to focus on you.
Objectives:
-to educate activity professionals on the
therapeutic benefits of essential oils
- to develop uses for aromatherapy in specific
activity programming ranging from dementia to
alert and oriented
- to develop a creative, hands-on, stimulating
workshop with a sensory trip around the world
learning about the oils as well as their safety
techniques for seniors.
About Sulekha Zaug: She is the Engage Life Director at
Atria on the Hudson and has been a Director of Recreation for
9 years. As well as training and consulting in activities for
Atria Senior Living in the NY/NJ/CT region, she is a NCCAP
monthly chat moderator, blog writer for "Wit and Wisdom",
Bikram yoga enthusiast, avid skier, rock climber, and spends
her free time with her Saint Bernard Sheila.

This interactive, hands-on workshop, will assist you in
how to meet common challenges in creating with the
elderly.
Various interventions and techniques will be given to
help you meet the creative needs of your seniors as
well as you own!
You will gain a better understanding of the creative
process and the profound impact it can have in our
lives.
Making art is good for the soul! So relax, have fun and
no matter if you can draw a straight line or not, you
will leave this workshop with a sense of creativity,
expression and your very own piece of art!
*Please dress comfortably and don't be afraid to get
messy!
About Michelle Olson: Through her unique consulting
business, Creative Path Consulting, Michelle brings
therapeutic art and creative expression to older adults of all
abilities in a variety of settings. She is also Owner & Art
Instructor at Grape Canvas, an active volunteer & fundraising
event organizer with the Alzheimer’s Association, a
registered and board certified Art Therapist by the Art
Therapy Credentials Board, a Certified Activity Consultant
with a Memory Care Specialization through NCCAP, and a
member of the American Art Therapy Association and the
National Center for Creative Aging.
