Member Print Competition
The Crestview Photo Club’s member judged print competition occurred in
April 2015. The judges have been busy scoring the entries. Winners will
be announced at the next club meeting held on May 11th.
Field Trips
April 4, 2015-full moon night shoot at the Twin Hills Park in Crestview.
Attendees had a great time learning or honing their night time
photography skills. Photos are on page 4.
April 25, 2015-St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. The earlier field trip was
cancelled due to inclement weather. Only a handful of members were able
to attend the newly scheduled date. Photos are on page 5.
May Photo Challenge

The May photo challenge for club members is...a secret! That’s right, no
one knows what the challenge topic is because each member present at
the April meeting drew their secret challenge from the bucket. Up to three
May challenge photographs are due by May 6, 2015. Please email your
selections to [email protected].

CPC. It is a major benefit for
club members to have their
work displayed in a high quality
publication. Deadline for
submitting images is the 6th of
each month. Images should be
300 PPI at largest size
possible, RGB color mode with
no profiles embedded. Email to
[email protected].
Include the following
information: title, date, time,
camera, f-stop, exposure time,
ISO, and lens in the email. You
may also include a sentence or
two about the image.

Huge crowd!
Our featured speaker was Rob from Calagaz Photo in Pensacola. He brought
Richard Weaver from the Wide Angle Photo Club in Pensacola. The primary focus
of Rob’s presentation was on the subject of lenses, all types, from fisheye to prime
to macro to extreme to telephoto. He also delved into tripods, camera bodies, lens
hoods, diopters, and youtube tutorials. His shop can help us with prints and
matting for the upcoming POP show in Pensacola. He topped off his presentation
with door prizes. Some items he shared with us:
The best aperture for portraits is 1.8.

Rob advocated the use of a “walk around” lens, Tamron 18-270 mm, 3.5-6.3
($390.00).
May 6, 2015 will be a Tamron Tailgate Party in the parking lot of Calagaz from
12:00-4:00.
May 16, 2015 is a photo shoot with beach theme. It is $179.00 for the day. Use
“wideangle” as the promocode and get $20.00 off.
Richard Weaver announced that the dates for this year’s Power of Photography
(POP) would be Aug 21, 22 and 23. Entries may be submitted July 1-25 (8x10
matted).
He also stated that the Wide Angle Photo Club meets on the 2 nd Monday of the
month at 6 pm at the Asbury Center located behind Cokesbury Methodist Church
on 9th Ave in Pensacola.
April photo challenge photos were presented by Connie Sweetland. The
challenges were monuments and vibrant splash of color. The advanced challenge
was angular shots. Members present drew their own challenge for May. Surprises
await at the next meeting on May 11th to find out what each person’s challenge
will be.

Join Us! Professional Equipment Not Needed!
Crestview Photo Club (CPC) membership consists of many different
levels of interest from advanced and professional photographers to
beginners who have just picked up their first point and shoot camera.
The club is maintained by a group of board members who vote and
advocate for the club members. The club is not governed by any single
authority but rather by votes and new ideas from its club members.
Club membership is open to residents of Crestview and surrounding
areas. There are no dues to attend CPC meetings. However, a
customary donation of $2.00 per meeting per member is greatly
appreciated. The donation box is a red bucket that usually sits on the
end of the first table.
Crestview Photo Club meeting agenda includes workshops, tutorials,
and presentations on selected photo topics, showcase members’
monthly assignments with a discussion, provide feedback on photos,
etc. Club also organizes quarterly field trips and participates in local
events.
Meetings are conducted on the second Monday of each month at A
Scrap in Time, located at 151 South Brock Avenue in Crestview.
