WHY USE EXTERNAL TESTING?
Accreditation for Growth (AFG) Protocols:
 Strategic Planning focuses on improving student performance
 The School needs to provide “strong evidence that it is and has
been effective, growing, improving, and/or sustaining student
performance, especially in academics, over time.”
HOW DO TEACHERS USE THE
SCORES?
• MAP tests are an important ADDITIONAL piece of data to normal formative
and summative assessments within the classroom
• MAP tests help teachers to keep track of progress and growth in basic skills
• They let teachers know where a student’s strengths are and if help is needed
in any specific areas
• Teachers use this data to help them guide and differentiate instruction within
the classroom to attend to the needs of each student
WHAT IS THE ADVANCED PLACEMENT
INTERNATIONAL DIPLOMA?
Requirement of five combined AP Exams from the following options:
• AP Spanish Language and Culture
• AP Environmental Science or AP Macroeconomics
• AP English Language or Literature and Composition
• AP Calculus or AP Biology
• AP World History or AP Microeconomics
The AP International Diploma is an additional option
to the CDSG High School Diploma requirements.
EDUCATIONAL TRIPS
AND STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
• Improve student outcomes while making learning relevant and engaging
• Internalize experiences and get excited to learn
• Connect theory to reality, make discoveries
• Adults who took educational trips in their youth make 12 percent more
per year that their peers, and they also were more likely to graduate
from college
