Strongest Alliances in Graphs

Abstract
Let 𝐺 = (𝑉, 𝐸) be a simple graph. For a nonempty set 𝑆 ⊆ 𝑉, and
a vertex 𝑣 ∈ 𝑉, 𝑁𝑆 (𝑣) denotes the number of neighbors 𝑣 has in 𝑆.
A nonempty set 𝑆 ⊆ 𝑉 is a defensive 𝑘_alliance in 𝐺 = (𝑉, 𝐸) if
𝑁𝑆 (𝑣) ≥ 𝑁𝑆̅ (𝑣) + 𝑘 for every 𝑣 ∈ 𝑆. In this talk we focus on the
maximum value of 𝑘 for which there exists a defensive 𝑘_alliance.
The corresponding alliances are the strongest alliances in graphs.
We introduce some structural and computational problems related
to this concept.
