*Position Title: CSL Project Assistant Organization Name: IUPUI Center for Service and Learning Hours: 10-20 hours/week – service hours will be on weekdays only between 8:30-5:00 Office Hours Schedule: Start date on ASAP – End date on Friday, May 8th Scholarship: $3000 for Spring 2015 (modified based on hours) Scholarship Description: The Center for Service and Learning Project Assistant is awarded through the Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholarship program. The CSL Project Assistant serves as the initial point of contact at the Center to welcome and direct visitors, and plays an integral role in the support of CSL’s civic engagement mission. Projects will include communications (with internal and external audiences), administrative tasks, Sam H. Jones Community Service Scholarship Program, and CSL events. The successful applicant is expected to have experience with multi-tasking projects as well as providing excellent customer service. You must be able to think strategically and become well-versed in the mission and work of CSL. The CSL Project Assistant interacts with staff from across the Center and is involved in a variety of projects and activities. Consequently, this person must demonstrate a high level of responsibility, a results oriented, can-do attitude and a great deal of flexibility. The CSL Project Assistant will report directly to the CSL Communications Specialist and will interact closely with a variety of CSL staff members and students. The IUPUI Center for Service and Learning (CSL) seeks to make service a distinctive aspect of the educational culture at IUPUI. The mission of CSL is to involve students, faculty, and staff in service activities that mutually benefit the campus and community. Responsibilities: Welcome and assist CSL visitors Provide administrative assistance (e.g., filing, copying, data entry, room reservations, drafting documents, information tracking) for CSL projects such as Sam H. Jones Scholarship Program, CSL events, and communication projects Assist with reviewing the CSL website content Assist with data management and tracking for Service Learning and other civic engagement activities Check CSL email account and respond or forward, as needed; answer CSL main phone line Write a brief reflection paper about your experiences during this scholarship Other duties as assigned Qualifications: *Academic eligibility: IUPUI students must qualify by meeting minimal requirements: Having completed at least 15 credit hours at IUPUI Carry at least a 2.75 GPA Enroll in and complete at least 9 credit hours at IUPUI during the semester in which they receive the scholarship Desired Skills and Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently on projects while also participating in a cross-functional team Strong work ethic and attention to detail Follow-through with deadlines and timelines Excellent customer service skills Interest in CSL’s mission of community service and civic engagement Basic computer skills required (experience with Word, Excel and Adobe products preferred) Scholarship Processing: Scholarship monies are credited to the student’s account in the Bursar’s Office.
