Re: Leduc Schools Reconfiguration – Spring Consultation Phase II
Dear Parents/ Guardians & Members of the STAR Catholic Leduc Community:
I’d like to begin by thanking all of those who participated in Phase I of our consultation process, regarding
reconfiguration of STAR Catholic’s Leduc schools. This is an important process and your input and opinions
are crucial in determining the next steps we take.
As you are aware, last year we received news of a new Catholic school for the city of Leduc. Our new
elementary/junior high school will provide 600 extra student spaces to our fast-growing community. The
school will be located in the Southfork neighbourhood and is scheduled to open in September 2016. The
addition of another school prompted the need for this process. Following a comprehensive community
consultation evening in March, we collected all the input given both at the session and online to develop
workable reconfiguration alternatives that will soon be ready to be presented for your feedback.
Your feedback on these reconfiguration alternatives will be sought over two public consultations sessions at:
St. Benedict School,
75 Alton Drive, Leduc, AB
Tuesday April 21, 2015
7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
(Drop-in format)
Notre Dame School,
66 South Park Dr, Leduc, AB
Wednesday April 22, 2015
7 p.m. to 9 p.m
(Drop-in format)
Feel free to attend either session. We will begin with a brief presentation outlining the alternatives. The rest
of the evening is free-flow as we seek your thoughts and opinions on those alternatives at various stations.
Feel free to arrive and leave as fits your schedule.
Upon completion of Phase II, we will gather the input and use it to ascertain a preferred community
alternative for the Board as it deliberates a reconfiguration decision at its regular June meeting.
I encourage you to attend either consultation session, April 21 or April 22, so you can share your thoughts
and ideas.
Sincerely,
Dr. Troy A. Davies
Superintendent
