This Permit is issued with the understanding that you will not unduly hinder traffic in any manner and/or close a navigational channel. In the event
assistance is required, please contact Coast Guard Station New London or Const Guard Sector Long Island Sound on VHF-FM channel 16
(l 56.8Mhz) or by telephone at (860) 442 447Jor (203) 468-4401, respectively.
It is your responsibility, as the event sponsor, lo ensure that all participants (including safety vessels) understand that they shall comply with federal
Navigation Rules and state boating regulations. They do not automatically become "Stand On" (privileged) vessels by virtue of their participation in
the event, particularly regarding the rules governing meeting, crossing, and overtaking situations between participants and vessels restricted in their
ability to maneuver.
As sponsor, you must also ensure that your designated safety vessels arc on scene at least 15 minutes prior to the event and do not depart until spectator
vessels have vacated the area. In addition, all safely vessels arc required to carry a marine radio and must monitor channel 13 should any vessel need
lo contact them. All vessels should also have al least one Type IV throwable device in addition to all other required safety equipment.
•A Special Local Regulation (SLR) exists for this event al 33 CFR § I00.35TOl-Ol25. You arc required to comply with the special local regulation
therein.
(I) This permit is issued lo the event sponsor in accordance with 33 C.F.R. § I 00.15, since the event by its nature, circumstances or location will
introduce extra or unusual hazards to the safety of life on navigable waters of the United States. Approval of the event by the Coast Guard docs not
imply endorsement of the event.
(2) The Const Guard assumes no responsibility for the operation of the event, the safety of the participants, the safety of the spectators, the safety of
transient craft in the area, or the safety of real and personal property in the area. This responsibility rests solely with the sponsor of this event. Any
accident involving property damage, personal injury, or death shall he reported lo the appropriate state authority and Const Guard Sector Long Island
Sound at (203) 468-4401.
(3) This permit docs not alleviate the event sponsor from the necessity of complying with any other federal, state or local laws or obtaining any other
required permits.
(4) Jn consideration of the granting of this permit, the event sponsor agrees to indemnify, protect, and hold harmless the United Stales of America, the
Department of Homeland Security, the United Stales Coast Guard, nil their officers, agents, and employees, acting officially or otherwise from any and
all liability, cost, judgments, demands, clauses, or settlements of every kind and character, due lo or by reason of, injury or death lo any person
whomsoever and damage 10 any real or personal property whatsoever, which may result in any manner arising out of, or directly related to the activities
or mission of the sponsor of the United States of America, its agencies and/or agents, in connection with this event or the event itself.
(5) The event sponsor is responsible for following the regulations applicable to the specific event as set forth in 33 C.F.R Part 100. An individual or
organization that violates any provision of these regulations, or any regulation or order issued pursuant 10 the regulations shall be subject to penalties
pursuant 10 Section 4 of the Act of April 28, 1908 (codified at 33 U.S.C. § 1236) and 33 C.F.R. § 100.50. lfat any time Commander, Coast Guard
Sector Long Island Sound deems the event unsafe or not in compliance with environmental standards and stipulations, the event will be stopped.
Failure to comply with any of the permit conditions may result in cancellation or early termination of your event, or used as the basis for denial of
future permit applications in subsequent years.
