Find a Taste of the OLD HAVANA at cuba restaurant
FIND OF A TASTE OF OLD HAVANA at this Greenwich
Village Cuban restaurant, which opened last summer.
Executive chef David Martinez was born and raised in
Havana and trained at the city's Hotel Nacional. He
brings authenticity and traditional foods to the menu,
such as tostones con mojo (fried, green plaintains with
garlicsauce, $5) and lechon asado con mojo campestre
(suckling pig with cassava in garlic sauce, $15). A
Cuban favorite for dessert, cascos de guayaba (guava
skins cooked in sugar syrup and filled with cream
cheese, $4), clears the palate after a heavy dose of
garlic. It's located at 222 Thompson St., between Bleeker and West Third Streets. For more information, call
212-420-7878.
