Dear Parents
Welcome back after what feels like a very long holiday! I hope you all had a great time in the lovely weather.
BABY NEWS
Mrs Munsey and her family are delighted to announce the safe arrival of a baby boy, William. We pass on our
congratulations and best wishes, I am sure Mrs Munsey will bring William to visit the children soon.
MAY FAIR
The May Fair will be held on Saturday 16th May. CHISS have sent out a list of non-uniform days and items they
require to make the day a success. Don’t forget to volunteer to help!
PARENT QUESTIONNAIRE RESULTS
Attached to this letter are the results of the parent’s questionnaire. I am sure you agree it shows a very positive
picture and I am glad our school is so highly valued by all. Thank you to all the parents who contributed, we have
taken all your comments on board and will endeavour to improve where we are able.
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
MATHS WORKSHOP ~ we will be holding an evening event to support with Maths development on Tuesday 23 June
from 6.30pm to 8pm. The session will be lead by a Hertfordshire Maths Advisor. More details will follow in a
separate letter.
SPORTS AFTERNOON ~ a time for the children to compete in a range of sporting events cheered on by their parents
and family (weather permitting!!!) Friday 26 June from 1:30pm
BOOK FAIR ~ we will be hosting the ‘Travelling Book Company Fair’ after school from Friday 26 June until
Wednesday 1 July. This gives parents the opportunity to buy books with their children after school from 3:15 to 4pm.
More details will follow.
BRING A PARENT TO SCHOOL ~ The school council requested a time for parents to come in and spend time with
their children in school. On Wednesday 1 July the children will be inviting a parent to come and spend either the
morning or the afternoon with them in school. There will also be the opportunity to picnic over lunch. More details
to follow.
OPEN EVENING ~ this year will be held on Wednesday 8 July from 5pm to 7pm. This is when the whole school is
open for viewing. Don’t forget to invite grandparents and other family relations to come and share your child’s
learning for the year.

Thank you very much to all the parents who responded to the school fund letter ~ we greatly appreciate your
contributions. We will keep you informed on our spending.
HOT WEATHER
Just a reminder, that while we are experiencing a burst of lovely weather, to send your child to school with a hat and
water bottle. Please ensure you apply sun cream prior to school, staff are not allowed to apply cream. Also, please
remember to name your child’s jumper or cardigan so we can relocate with ease!!

REGULAR REMINDERS
CLAIMING FREE SCHOOL MEALS
All children in infant schools are entitled to free school meals under the government’s new scheme. However, if you
receive certain benefits you may be entitled to free school milk and a reduction in school clubs and trips. Apply on
line at www.hertsdirect.org/freeschoolmeals or telephone 0300 123 4048. Or, please speak to the office who can
support you in the application process.
OFSTED PARENT VIEW
Register your views on our school at www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk , we are up to 16 contributions. If you have
registered your views previously, please take a few moments to complete for this academic year 14/15.
NUT FREE
We have a ‘nut free’ policy in school. Please ensure that all packed lunches are ‘nut free’ as some of our children are
allergic to nuts and this includes airborne allergies. This still applies if you are going on a school trip.
If you are unsure, please see the school office for one of our lunch time booklets.
