PTA Fun Friday 15th May
Don’t forget to return permission slips and food choices together with payment in a sealed envelope by
Tuesday 12th May. Spare slips and envelopes are available in the reception area if a slip hasn't made its
way back to you. As a result of Fun Friday, Musical Theatre will not be taking place on the 15th May.
If your child is booked into Stay & Play but would like to attend Fun Friday instead, please see Mrs
Southam in the office.
Church Inspection
As you will know from the letter sent home on Tuesday, we had our church school inspection on Wednesday. The inspector was very fair and I am very pleased with the feedback received. We won’t know the
grading given until we receive the report which can take up to thirty days.
Instalment of the new Rector
Our new Rector, Rev. Charles Jefferson will be installed at a service that I will be attending on Saturday
afternoon. I will be inviting him to school as soon as possible as I know all the children will be excited to
meet him. The staff, Governors and I look forward to working with him.
Defibrillator
You may have spotted the defibrillator case that has been fitted to the school wall by Foundation Stage.
This now contains a defibrillator for village and school use. We have worked in partnership with the village
organisations to make this possible and it has been jointly funded.
To use it, an emergency 999 call should be made and from there instructions, including the code will be
provided. The unit itself is suitable for use on adults as well as children by the flick of a switch and gives
step by step spoken directions on what to do.
We will be holding two ‘Defibrillator Awareness’ sessions in June as follows:
For use on an adult: Wednesday 3rd June at 7.00pm
For use on a child: Wednesday 10th June at 7.00pm
These will be led by the South Central Ambulance Service and each session will last approximately 90
minutes. If you would like to attend, please fill out the slip on the letter that will be coming home shortly.
These sessions will also be open to the wider village who can register their interest with the W.I.
Hazard Alley
A couple of weeks ago Years 5 & 6 visited Hazard Alley and learnt how to stay safe within an ordinary village setting. Some of the things learned were how to put someone into the recovery position, how to exit
a burning building safely and how to make a call to the emergency services.
Some of the other scenarios included a train crash and learning what to do if someone gets into danger in
water. Thank you to our Junior Safety Officers Lucy Paul and Jasper Plomaratis for helping to organise the
day.
Daphne Evans
Some of you who have had a long association with the school, may remember a lady called Daphne Evans
who in her younger years was a valued volunteer and great supporter of the school. She donated the
‘Achievement’ cup that many children have enjoyed receiving over the years. Sadly Daphne passed away
this week aged 90. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
