Curry Senior Center’s Annual Gala: Helping Hands, Healing Hearts will be a festive evening celebrated in the Room of the Dons, the Peacock Court and the Lobby
Terrace of the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins Hotel on Nob Hill, on Thursday, May 7, 2015, 5:30PM–8:30PM.
The gala will feature delicious food and libations, live music, an exhilarating live auction presented by Curry Board Member and Bay Area news personality, Diane
Dwyer, along with many wonderful silent auction items and special guests.
Helping Hands, Healing Hearts also honors Bay Area citizens and organizations who provide distinctive service to the community with three awards: the Francis J. Curry
Award, for leadership and service in the field of health and medical care; the Joseph Mignola, Jr. Award, for an individual or organization who devote their energy,
intelligence and heart to helping those who are underserved in our community and the Vera Haile Dalenberg Award for a woman or group of women who tirelessly
advocate on behalf of immigrants, seniors and all low-income and underserved people.
The Vera Haile Dalenberg Award is new to Curry and founded in memory of Vera Haile — a San Francisco icon of determined advocacy for the underprivileged and
Curry Executive Director from 1983–1996 who was responsible for the dramatic growth in Curry’s comprehensive programming and partnerships during her term.
In honor of Vera Haile’s passing on July 9, 2014, the gala this year will celebrate and honor those women in our community who fight for what makes
our city famous for benevolence and goodwill towards those who need a supportive hand.
