AIRBAGS. The MINI Convertible comes standard with four airbags. Driver and front-passenger airbags protect the head and upper body in the event of a head-on collision; the two head/thorax side airbags are primarily designed to help reduce the risk of injuries to the head, chest and abdominal areas from side impacts. Airbags may not deploy simultaneously. ACTIVE ROLL-OVER BAR. Made of high-strength aluminium, the active roll-over bar ensures optimum protection for all passengers. Normally it is retracted behind the rear headrests, blending seamlessly with the beautiful lines of the MINI Convertible, but in an emergency, it deploys upwards in approximately 150 milliseconds. Dynamic Stability Control and Dynamic Traction Control. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) counteracts vehicle instability by intervening in the engine management and applying brake force to individual wheels at front and rear as necessary. It includes hill assist which helps you move from the brake pedal to the gas pedal by temporarily holding the brake for you when on an incline. The optional Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) with Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) gives drivers the option to make more of the MINI’s natural handling, by delaying interventions in engine management and braking until the last possible moment. The EDLC function allows you to power through a turn or curve on surfaces with variable levels of grip. Braking interventions on the rear axle also help the car to hold its line when cornering.
