Edison Information
Seniors who are interested in attending Edison during the
2015-16 school year:
To allow students more time to complete the scholarship
application process, Edison has extended the 2015-2016
Edison Academic Scholarship Application deadline to April
22, 2015.

Two Nights for students and their parents to
discover the educational and career opportunities
available at
the U.S. Military Service
Academies. These information nights are being
held to allow high school students within the 8th
Congressional District of Ohio to discuss and
learn the requirements and procedures for
seeking a nomination to the academies.
Representatives from the Naval Academy,
Military Academy, Merchant Marine Academy,
Coast Guard Academy, and the Air Force
Academy will be there to answer questions.

Scholarships
Versailles Community Scholarship- Open to Seniors who are entering
a post-high school education program of at least two years and have a
cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Applications can be found on the
forms tab of the high school webpage. Applications must be returned
to Mrs. Shardo no later than April 10, 2015.
Versailles Baseball Diamond Club Scholarship- This scholarship is
open to VHS seniors who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above that
has participated in one extracurricular activity their senior year.
Applications MUST be typed. Along with the application please
include a transcript, updated academic resume, letter of
recommendation, and essay. Applications that you can directly type on
can be found in darkenet jr. Hardcopy applications for reference of
information needed, can be found in the guidance office. Applications
must be returned to Mrs. Ahrens no later than April 15, 2015.

Baseball
After giving up three runs in the top half of the first inning
Monday night, the Versailles baseball team shut down
Covington and beat the Buccaneers 10-3. Covington
started things out with three consecutive one-out singles to
bring in the game’s first run. After getting the second out,
a Versailles error extended the inning and allowed
Covington to score two more runs to go up 3-0. Versailles
got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third with Kyle
Subler getting a single and then scoring on a single by
Kyle Rutschilling. Versailles added another run one inning
later. Nick Moorman singled and stole second to get
things started. After Subler walked, Moorman stole third
and Subler stole second. Moorman then stole home to cut
Covington’s lead to 3-2. Versailles took its first lead of the
game with five runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning.
Derek Bornhorst started things off with a single, and Dan
Borchers also singled. Jace Barga then got a bunt single to
score Bornhorst and tie the game at 3-3. Brett
McEldowney then singled to score Borchers and Barga
and give Versailles a 5-3 lead. Cole Niekamp then singled,
and he and McEldowney advanced to second and third on
a passed ball. A sacrifice fly by Moorman scored
McEldowney, and then a double by Subler scored Cole
Niekamp to make it 7-3. Versailles scored its final three
runs in the sixth inning. Borchers singled to begin the
rally, Barga drew a walk, and McEldowney was hit by a
pitch to load the bases. Cole Niekamp then drove in
Borchers with a fielder’s choice for an 8-3 lead. Jared
Niekamp then hit a sacrifice grounder to score Barga,
making it 9-3. The Moorman singled to score Jared
Niekamp for a 10-3 advantage. Versailles ended the game
with 13 hits and two errors. Covington had six hits and
one error. Borchers went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Moorman was 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI
and a run scored. Subler was 2-for-2 with a walk, a
double, two stolen bases, a RBI and a run scored.
McEldowney was 1-for-3 and hit by a pitch with two RBI
and a run scored. Barga was 1-for-2 with two walks, a RBI
and two runs scored. Rutschilling went 1-for-3 with a
walk, a RBI and two stolen bases. Bornhorst was 1-for-3
with a walk, two stolen bases and a run scored. Cole
Niekamp was 1-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Jared Niekamp was 1-for-4 with a RBI. Rutschilling
pitched the complete game for Versailles, allowing one
earned run and two unearned runs in seven innings. He
allowed six hits, walked one and struck out six.

corner. 50 students are involved in
this wonderful show and have rehearsed
many hours to prepare it for the
public! Singin' in the Rain is one of the
top 5, all-time favorite shows in the
history of musical theatre! DON'T MISS
IT! Dates for the musical are April 9 @
7:30, April 10 @ 8:00, and April 11 @
3:00 & 8:00. Tickets are $10 for adults
and $7 for students.
