Dear Parents, 1 Summer break is a, special time, when the family can enjoy activities together. However, we hope that along with enjoying the vacation, our children also learn through their surroundings and experiences. To occupy the little ones in their free time, we are sending activities and creative worksheets designed to be meaningful and fun filled. Social Development 2 Let’s try to be independent during this summer break and learn to: -Button up our shirt. -Put on our socks and shoes -Pack up our bag -Eat lunch on our own -Keep our surroundings neat and tidy. Teach the child to keep his/her toys and belongings back in their place. Also -Encourage your child to converse freely with visitors, relatives who come over to the house. -Encourage your child to help you in laying the table for dinner. Language Development Spend some time with your child by playing or simply making normal conversation to enhance the bond between you and your child. Converse with your child in English and develop a habit of speaking proper sentences Some sentences such as : - May I go to the park? - May I play with my toys? - Please give me a tissue paper/book/pencil/…. - Thank you for the wonderful gift. - I am thirsty. May I have some water? 3 Activity 1 Paper Plate Craft This is a simple craft made from a paper plate and a child's handprint cutouts. Supplies needed: • • • • • A paper plate Yellow construction paper Scissors Glue (or a stapler) Crayons, paint or markers Googly eyes (optional) Paint the back side of a paper plate yellow. Trace a child's hand on yellow construction paper about 7 times. Cut out the tracings. 4 Glue or staple the handprint tracings to the paper plate the fingers are the sun's rays. Color in the sun, drawing a mouth and a nose. Either draw the eyes or glue on googly eyes. Activity 2 5 Activity 3 Make standing lines and then colour the picture.
