Recital is Drawing Closer!
We are getting closer to recital – a day for all of the DDC dancers to show what they have learned this year! Dress
rehearsal will be June 13th, and the recital will be June 14th. Please be sure to look in your email inbox for all of the
information you need to navigate dress rehearsal and recital. You will find details on the following in the recital
email:







Schedule your portrait session at www.portrait-palace.com NO LATER than April 23rd.
Sign up for the finale dance at the front desk by May 2nd. Please note the rehearsal dates – May 30th, May 31st,
June 6th, and June 7th. May 30th and June 7th are MANDATORY rehearsals.
Be sure to place your order for your recital t-shirt by May 2nd. Prices range from $18 - $21.50 + tax.
We would love to have you volunteer! Volunteers help keep the recital running smoothly; please submit the
volunteer sign-up form, indicating where you would like to help out.
Recital handbook – please be sure to read this, and keep a copy on hand, as it has all of the information
needed for surviving recital.
If you would like to place an announcement or advertisement in the Recital program, please turn your form in
by May 2nd.
Dress rehearsal and recital schedules will be out on April 22nd.

Dayton Dance Conservatory
Sign-ups have begun for the DDC “Dad’s Dance” for the 2015 Late
Spring Recital. This is an exciting opportunity for dads, grandfather’s,
brothers (over the age of 12), and husbands of DDC dancers to get
their moment in the spotlight, and show off what they’ve got!
This Hip Hop dance will be choreographed by Mr. Reggie Faulkner,
and is sure to be a crowd favorite! You don’t want to miss out – space
is limited. Decide which show(s) you would like to participate in and
sign up soon! The rehearsal times are as follows:






Dayton Dance Conservatory Company will have their 1st Annual Spring Concert on Friday,
May 1st, at 8:00 pm (Doors will open at 7:15). The Concert will be held at the Northridge High
School Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Dayton Dance Conservatory,
or at the door, for $10.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Are you wondering just what the Dayton Dance Conservatory Company is? New this dance year, the DDCC
is a group of pre-professional dancers who are committed to being young ambassadors of dance, who will
continue to proliferate and sustain the art of dance in the Dayton, Ohio area. These talented dancers not
only train hard, and dance with a passion beyond their years, but they also take the time to give back to the
community, sharing their enthusiasm for dance with others. Expect to see great things from the
DDCC!
Dayton Dance Conservatory Company Mission:
To cultivate young aspiring professional dancers and instill the value of performing arts within the
community; to develop and identify various performance and community outreach opportunities; to
educate dancers by expanding and collaborating on repertoire which challenges technique, artistic depth,
and creativity; to inform dancers of the historic impact of dance and the significance of continuing oral and
visual traditions.

Don’t forget - Dayton Dance Conservatory’s Company has been selected to perform a piece at the
OhioDance Festival! They will show a jazz piece choreographed by Ms. Kirsten Fricke, titled “Birds of
Paradise.” This is an exciting opportunity for our talented company dancers, and we hope that you are able
to see the show, and support DDCC.
Date and time: April 25, 2015, 6:30-9:00 p.m.
Location: The Ballet Met Performance Space at 322 Mt. Vernon Ave, Columbus, OH 43215.

Over the weekend of March 20 – 22, our Company dancers competed at IDC
in Dayton. We are so proud of how well they performed! Here are the

Molly Walden (The Descent) – Platinum, 1st place in division, 2nd place overall teen solo, Special
Judges Award: precision, IDC Idol Semi- Finalist
Gabrielle DiNizo (Conflicted) – Platinum, 2nd place in division, 3rd place overall senior solo, IDC Idol

Dayton Dance Conservatory Ensemble
The DDCE will have their 1st annual Spring Concert on May 2nd, at the
Northridge High School Auditorium. Doors will open at 5:15 pm, and the
show starts at 6:00pm. Admission is FREE!
On March 21st and 22nd, DDCE competed at IDC in Dayton. They did an amazing job, and we

Our Mini Dugout Dancers performed at the Dayton Dragon’s Open Day on April 12 th, and had a
blast! Didn’t make it out to see them? No worries – they still have 15 more games to perform at.

Thank you!
Dayton Dance Conservatory would like to thank all of the parents and students for a
successful “dress-down” week! We raised $450 for the charity “Stand for the Silent.”
Way to go dancers!
Stand for the Silent was started by Kirk and Laura Smalley, after their 11-year-old son
took his own life after being bullied for over two years. The mission is to prevent
similar tragedies by sharing bullying prevention techniques with schools all over the
country. To date, this organization has reached 1,037,000 kids in 1,023 schools – and
it just keeps growing!

Meet Ms. Kirsten!
Where did you go to college? And what did you major in?
Point Park University, majoring in Jazz Dance.
What do you love most about dance? Telling stories, and portraying
different characters.
If you could travel back in time, what year/time period would you want to go to, and
why?
The 1920’s… I love the clothes and the hair!!!
What’s your favorite show/musical/ballet to watch? Anything by the Nederlands
Dans Theater… I am obsessed with that company. Everything they do is brilliant.
What’s the most unusual thing you have eaten? Emu (it’s a bird).
If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would that word be?
Quirky.
