Public School Volunteer Week
Public School Volunteer Week ran April 20 - 24 and Community and Schools Together, an initiative
of Dorchester County Public Schools, took the opportunity to thank a few of the many volunteers who spend
time in the schools with gifts donated by local businesses. Participating businesses included Especially For
You Cards and Gifts, Bliss Jewelry and Gifts, Court Lane Emporium, and Gina’s Sweet Treat Ice Cream
Shoppe. School volunteers recognized this week were: Paulette Meekins (Maple Elementary School),
Elaine Cephas (Hurlock Elementary School), John Lucas (Vienna Elementary School), George Ames
(Sandy Hill Elementary School), and the chaperones on a field trip with Maces Lane Middle School –
Luis Lopez, Arlinda Barnes, Carmen Farrare, Jennifer Jones, Tina Elzey and Kim Bennett.
These volunteers are representative of the many Dorchester County residents who support young
people through volunteering at local schools. For further information on volunteer opportunities in Dorchester
County Public Schools, contact Valerie Goff, Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected] or 410-2284747 ext. 1008.
