Introducing the All New
XXL UltraCare™ Dishwasher
With the world’s largest loading height and a unique new flexible four level rack system with up to 7 baskets,
ASKO’s new generation XXL dishwasher enables you to wash larger loads and more place settings than ever
before. Compared to a standard dishwasher you can load up to 40% more dishes!
Largest Loading Height
ASKO’s XXL dishwasher has the world’s largest total height. It can also
fit larger plates and larger pots and pans together with taller kitchen
utensils in general.
Low Noise Level
An ASKO dishwasher hardly makes a sound when it’s running. Therefore
we have added a buzzer so that you can hear when it’s finished.
Turbo Fan Drying
ASKO’s fan-dry system gets the load completely dry. After the final rinse,
the moist air in the dishwasher is mixed with dry air from outside, and
the machine dries completely.
Flexible Four Level Rack System
A unique new flexible and easy to use rack system with up to 7 different
baskets. Features include:
• Useful top knife rack
• Upper rack allows for five rows of glasses. It is also height adjustable
(1.5”) making it possible to provide more space.
• New middle rack divides into two removable baskets: one for larger
utensils, and one for bowls and cups.
• Lower rack allows for multiple options with foldable divisible tine
rows and two cutlery baskets.
Practical andTime Saving
Multiple setting options for the way you live:
• Time Program allows you to set the length of the wash, then the
dishwasher determines the best possible wash for that allotted time.
• Quick Wash, perfect for lightly soiled items.
• With Auto Wash, the dishwasher detects how soiled the dishes are
and adjusts time, water consumption and temperature accordingly.
10 Spray Zones, 3 Power Zones
ASKO’s spray system consists of up to 10 highly effective spray zones
which ensure a totally clean wash. Two power zones are located in the
lower rack making the washing-up performance perfect - even for the
dirtiest pots and pans. A third power zone concentrates directly on your
cutlery.
TopTouch Control
Our top of the line panels have a new modern user interface with touch
controls and LCD display. The interface is placed on the top of the
dishwasher. It’s easy to use and easy to clean.

Hot & Cold
The Basics in Appliances
Still Your Best Bet
What if your refrigerator gave today’s weather report each time you opened
the door? Or, your range printed directions to the nearest movie theater?
Innovative? Yes. Smart. No.
Technology for the sake of technology isn’t always a good thing. Just like
bigger isn’t always better. More than anything, you want your refrigerator
to keep your food and beverages at the right temperature, and to keep them
fresh for as long as possible. You want your oven to provide a great cooking
experience and food that tastes good. You want both to look great in your
kitchen – to look as if they fit within the lifestyle you have chosen.
I have been the midwest / midsouth distributor for Sub-Zero appliances
for nearly 25 years, and for Wolf appliances the last seven. During that time the company has been as
innovative as much as anybody. But the innovation has been to make what is, even better. For
example, the new line of Sub-Zero’s now being introduced won’t look all that much different to the
average consumer than they ever have. But inside, behind the interior shell, is a new air filter that
kills bacteria and eliminates gases that deteriorate fresh fruits and vegetables. A water purification
filter has been added so that the water you get from the dispenser is as fresh as water can be. And
now the crisper and deli drawers are two to three degrees cooler than the rest of the refrigerator – at
precisely the right temperature these foods like best.
While it seems like I’ve heard it a million times, I am still amazed at how many people – when
talking about refrigeration – call out Sub-Zero by name, and now Wolf as well. And even more
interesting, how many owners say words that are nearly 100% identical to our marketing themes:
Sub-Zero keeps fresh foods, fresher longer. It is because they see it. If 10 days after buying a fresh
head of lettuce it still looks fresh in the crisper drawer, then seeing is believing.
How much should the best in kitchen appliances cost? More than ever, you do get what you pay for.
But, interestingly, the cost of a Sub-Zero / Wolf / ASKO kitchen is not very distant from other
competitors top-line brands.
Whether you are building a new home, or remodeling your existing kitchen, you can now purchase
one of our appliance packages for around $15,000. For details, please see the list of dealers in this
issue of Fantastic Kitchens magazine.
If you happen to be in the Cincinnati marketplace, please plan to visit our
manufacturer showroom. Here we display every Sub-Zero, Wolf, ASKO, Faber and
Scotsman appliance made. We are proud to show it off, and to answer your
questions – with absolutely no obligation.
Thank you for letting us share your time. It is appreciated.

Priorities for our New Kitchen
“We’re enthusiastic cooks and big entertainers so any kitchen of ours is a busy
place. In our old kitchen we were always saying things like ‘get out of the way!’
Building a new home meant that we could work with a kitchen designer and
consider every detail to make sure it would work perfectly. We knew we
absolutely had to have Sub-Zero.”
Best Kitchen Buy
“Sounds strange but for me it’s the sink. It’s my favorite part of the whole
kitchen. It’s custom made from copper and the lip protrudes beyond the base
so that it’s very easy to use. It’s absolutely indestructible. I’m thrilled with it.”
Intimate Dinners or lots of People?
“Lots of people. We do an extensive amount of entertaining with large groups,
often forty or so for sit down dinner. We actually tell people that we didn’t
‘downsize’, we ‘right-sized’ as we built a home for the way we like to live! When
I entertain I always try a new recipe.”
Cook?
“Extensively! As the children have grown I do it less on a daily basis but
whenever our families get together it’s here they congregate. And I’m always
cooking to entertain or fund-raise.”
Favorite Cook Book
“I have over 250 cookbooks! I really like Charlie Trotter’s books. I travel
extensively and always try and pick up a Junior League or local group’s
cookbook. You can find some great regional recipes that way.”
Designer’s Thoughts
“The large stucco hood above the Wolf range is an eyecatching feature in this kitchen with its built-in
apothecary drawers and ironwork detail. It’s just one
example of the large selection of design elements,
textures, colors and materials used in here.” – Kristin

Specific Zones
FROM PAGE 5: THE APPLIANCES ARE POSITIONED IN A WAY THAT ALLOWS FOR MULTIPLE PEOPLE TO WORK IN
this kitchen with ease. There are many specific zones including food storage, clean-up, dish storage, preparation, cooking
and entertainment zones. Each space can function independently, with enough dedicated counter and storage space for
each task.
Functional and Durable
[LEFT] “I’M GOING TO BE BURIED IN MY SUB-ZERO!” SAYS HOMEOWNER CINDY STELLHORN WHO INTEGRATED
her refrigerator/freezer into her cabinetry with wooden overlay panels. “It’s exactly as it promotes itself; functional,
durable and consistent. I can always count on it.” In the corner, angled to the large window is a custom-made double
copper sink.
User Friendly
[ABOVE RIGHT] “I HAD A VIKING RANGE BEFORE BUT THIS WOLF RANGE IS MUCH MORE USER FRIENDLY,” SAYS
homeowner Cindy Stellhorn. “Its functionality is amazing. I really like the French cooktop, and the convection element
is excellent. My family now even likes the cookies I make thanks to the great ovens!”

positioned alongside the main prep island. This creates a highly efficient main work zone
yet still allowing full accessibility for others without getting in the cook’s way. Bonnie
Ross is delighted with her Sub-Zero: “It works great with a design that’s easy to clean and
keep food organized. It’s a Sub-Zero so of course it’s an awesome refrigerator!”
[RIGHT] “THE WOLF RANGETOP IS A KNOCKOUT LOOK!” SAYS HOMEOWNER
Bonnie Ross. The combination of stainless steel cooktop and hood with white subway tile
backsplash creates a cooking unit that reflects the same clean lines and contemporary feel
as the rest of the kitchen.

Our Priorities for our New Kitchen
“We wanted a very clean, contemporary kitchen with good functionality and work
flow, plenty of storage and high quality appliances.”
What our Family Thinks
“Everyone has great comments. Our youngest daughter is a recent graduate of The
Culinary Institute of America and now a cook at Primo restaurant in Maine. She
was an enthusiastic part of the kitchen planning. When she’s home she is a whiz
in the kitchen utilizing all aspects. She really loves it all especially the professional
grade appliances.”
Entertaining – How we do it
“We love to have friends over for casual dining. The emphasis is on good
conversation and delicious food.”
How we Unwind
“We like trying out new recipes. Almost every weekend we select a new recipe that
looks appealing and we prepare it together. All time favorite cookbook author?
Deborah Madison.”
Best Buy for the Kitchen
“The Wolf rangetop. It is an awesome cooktop that is so responsive and relatively
easy to keep clean.”
Favorite Restaurant?
“We have two local restaurants that we love, both independently owned: Oakley’s
Bistro and Sakura which is authentic Japanese.”
Most Fun we’ve had in our Kitchen?
“Christmas with our family. Every year, instead of exchanging gifts with each other
we all make an ethnic themed meal together. Last year we had a Mexican
Christmas theme and the year before that, Moroccan. We each research recipes
and plan and prepare the meal all together. Our Mexican Christmas was enjoyed
here in our new kitchen. It was such a lovely, memorable time.”
Designer’s Thoughts
“This is a good example of a clean, contemporary, functional
kitchen that will stand the test of time. The color palette
emphasizes earth, water and fire and creates a fresh, cool feeling.
The high contrast between cabinetry and walls is very eyecatching.” – Kristin Okeley, Kitchens by Design

friends. I’ve done it every year since I was a boy. I’m
teaching my boys to do the same thing. My parents join
us here so that we can all help together; it’s a great

Favorite Coffee
“Jamaican Blue Mountain. We have an
espresso machine. It pulls out on a drawer
in the buffet. It’s great!”
Favorite Furniture Store
“International Furniture Imports in

imported from Europe.”
Best Party to Date
“We moved in on a Wednesday in mid January. The
following Sunday it was Super Bowl – the Colts versus
the Bears. We had unpacked boxes all around the house
but it didn’t matter. Everyone was here. We won! It was
a great start to our new home.”
What we Like about our Wolf and Sub-Zero
Appliances
“They are both such an asset to the value of the home.
The best thing about the Sub-Zero is its expanse. It’s set
up so that it’s easy to find anything and easy to keep
everything organized. The best thing about the Wolf is
its size and the two ovens. They are very accurate for
baking.”
Designer’s Thoughts
“The mix of finishes and separate areas for
work, storage and display make this kitchen
special. The most eye-catching feature is the
custom hood. It is a feature unique to this
kitchen. The built-in pantry and Sub-Zero
refrigerator/freezer, and the large island work
surface are good practical features.” – Kristen

A Great Look

Sub-Zeros have combined into this one piece of
furniture. Adding the wood panels has given it a great
look,” says homeowner Tom.
Rustic Feel

the rustic French country farmhouse feel of this

architectural salvaged door facia from pre-war
downtown Manhattan. The hood became the
inspiration for the feel of the whole kitchen.
Amazing Focal Point
[BOTTOM] “THERE ARE LOTS OF THINGS THAT
make this kitchen special for us,” says homeowner
Tom. “We love the island because all the kids can fit
around to talk, eat and share. We love the great
appliances; they make a real difference to our every

It’s made the range an amazing focal point.”

Our Priorities for the Kitchen
“We wanted a large island that would allow several people to work together. We also
wanted a hearth-like hood above the stove, like you see in Europe. We wanted a
sense of warmth and a lot of classic elements as well as natural stone and varying
colors and cabinetry. We knew what we wanted!”
What I like about my Wolf Rangetop
“It looks impeccable and integrates beautifully with the cabinetry. There are loads
of burners and they accommodate all our large pasta pans. It sautés perfectly and
I especially like the low simmer feature.”
Favorite Family Time?
“Definitely in the evening when everyone’s back home. This can range any time
from 6 pm to 10 pm. Thankfully we’re very good at prioritizing dinner, whatever
time that may be. Family meal times are a wonderful time to get together.”

One Hour, My Kitchen, Dream Guest . . . Who would it be?
“Well there are two: Nigella Lawson and Giada De Laurentiis. They both strike me
as women who have tons of fun with food. The two of them together would be
amazing. I’d serve fresh pasta and we’d do lots of talking.”
Designer’s Thoughts
“There was big emphasis on the family for this kitchen. Elisabeth
first saw a picture of the cast stone hood in a magazine and knew
that was what she wanted. We worked the style of the whole kitchen
from there. That influenced the finishes, color and old world Tuscan
theme.” – Elizabeth Habben, Dutch Made, Inc.

interest,” she says. The backsplash is tumbled limestone.
[OPPOSITE PAGE, RIGHT] THE BEAUTIFUL CUSTOM SUB-ZERO ARMOIRE HAS STACKED
crown moulding and side flanking to give the appearance of an individual furniture piece.
The armoire contains a Sub-Zero 27-inch all refrigerator next to a Sub-Zero 27-inch all

says homeowner Elisabeth. “They are excellent for keeping my fruit and vegetables
organized. The drawers have their own temperature settings which is perfect for storing
fruit and tender lettuce. I also love the good shelving and good lighting of the whole unit.”
Opposite the Sub-Zero armoire is a Vermont walnut butcher’s block, set lower than the
