Afghanistan. We also pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the prayer to St. Gertrude which releases 1000 souls from purgatory

Each Tuesday, SS. Peter & Paul Church - 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Come, adore Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. We include prayers
for priests along with various prayers such as the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet which are given to us as tremendous weapons
in this age of spiritual warfare. Everyone is welcome!
HOSPITAL VISITATION - PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN HOSPITAL POLICY
Parishioners are visited throughout the week while in the hospital. Due to privacy regulations and the elimination of
coding systems used previously to notify parishes of the admittance of parishioners, we no longer are given the names
of hospitalized parishioners. IT IS NOW UP TO THE FAMILIES OF THOSE WHO ARE SICK TO NOTIFY
THE PARISH THAT THEIR LOVED ONE IS HOSPITALIZED. THE HOSPITALS WILL NOT NOTIFY US.

DAILY MASS
We would enjoy seeing more parishioners attending the 8:00 a.m. liturgies at SS. Peter & Paul each Tuesday and Wednesday, and at
St. Lucy’s on Thursday and Friday. Prayers may be offered for yourself and for our entire community of faith. It is a wonderful,
grace-filled way to begin each day, or a few days a week. We especially invite senior citizens whose schedules allow more freedom
to attend daily Mass.

Knights of Columbus – Knights of Columbus Council 12297 has moved to St. Lucy’s Church. The Council was originally
founded at St. David’s in the Keyser Valley section of the city, and then moved to St. Patrick’s. New members are welcome to join
the council and current members of the Knights of Columbus who belong to another council are welcome to transfer. Meetings are
held on the first Monday of each month, at 7:00 p.m., in the church hall. Forms to initiate a transfer or to join as a new member
will be available in the rear of the church. All are welcome.
WE WANT TO SCAN YOUR CHURCH PICTURES AND MAKE THEM PART OF OUR PARISH HISTORY – Do you
have First Holy Communion pictures, Confirmation pictures, Baptismal pictures, or marriage pictures taken in church? Would you
please let us scan them and then give them back to you. We are losing a lot of our history, especially the early years. Let’s face it,
the kids and especially the grand kids will only store them in the attic. Help us preserve the history of our parish.
REMINDER TO ALL ALTAR SERVERS – You are more than welcome to serve at any time. We have four seats and
only three servers are scheduled. Just come to the sacristy at least five minutes before Mass to see if we have three or four
servers already present.
CATHOLIC CD STAND – In the back of St. Lucy’s Church is a stand with material explaining our Catholic Faith. The material
is free. If you wish to give a donation of $1, or $5 or more, the donation box is part of the stand. When you have finished the CD or
book and have no one to pass it on to, then please put it back in the stand so that it can be a blessing to someone else.

SECOND COLLECTION – THIS WEEKEND – THE CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES – July 26-27, 2014
This weekend, July 26-27, 2014, our parish will take up The Catholic Relief Services Collection. This
Collection supports six Catholic agencies that touch more than 100 million lives around the world. The funds
from this Collection help provide food to the hungry, welcome and support to displaced refugees, and advocacy
for the voiceless. How will you help? Please give generously to this weekend’s Catholic Relief Services

St. Joseph’s Center Summer Festival Concludes July 26 and 27, 2014, on the campus of Marywood University, Scranton.
Hosting more than 40 booths there is plenty to do and eat for people of all ages. Books, gently used Vera Bradley, sports, doll house
raffle, bingo, bounce house, pizza fritta, funnel cakes, roast beef and porketta, ice cream, tornado potatoes – just to name a few.
Come see WNEP TV’s Joe Snedeker after his “Big City Blitz” – Go Joe XVII bike ride. Entertainment all day on Sunday. There is
plenty of parking and shuttle service is available.

Religious Education Help Needed – Our Religious Education classes provide instruction and growth in the faith for our
public school students. What could be more meaningful than helping young children know and love Our Lord? Anyone from
St. Lucy’s parish who feels called to help the Religious Education program in any way is invited to this most important

RCIA – The RCIA is for any adult or young person who has been away from the Church or would like to update his/her
faith, who was baptized and did not receive Confirmation, or any non-Catholic who is interested in becoming Catholic.

Vacation Bible School – Please join St. Lucy’s Parish, SS. Peter & Paul Parish, St. Ann’s Basilica Parish, and St. Patrick’s Parish,
Vacation Bible School to be held at St. Patrick’s parish cafeteria/grounds, from July 28 – August 1, from
9:00 a.m. – 12 Noon, for ages Kindergarten – 5th Grade. Cost: $30.00 per child. This is a wonderful opportunity
to make new friends, participate in fun activities with existing friends AND learn about Jesus and the saints – all

West Scranton NeighborWorks Week (July 28-August 1) – 335 volunteers brought together to assist 50 homeowners with projects
such as porch repairs, step repairs, exterior painting, interior painting, etc. Sign up to volunteer during those days from 9:00 a.m. –
