Meet the “New Global Face” of 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Room CNR 1000 Tackling the Inactivity Pandemic: Emory’s Growing Physical Activity Capacity 102 Steps Towards a More Active World Speaker: Michael Pratt, MD, MSPE, MPH | Steering Committee Member for the Lancet Physical Activity Observatory | Professor, Department of Global Health and Emory Global Diabetes Research Center Dr. Pratt will introduce The Lancet’s Physical Activity Observatory reports on the status of physical activity surveillance, research and policy activities in the 102 countries that account for 75% of the global population, and 98% of the world’s physical activity research publications. The report includes 102 Country Cards that provide data on mortality attributable to physical inactivity, the prevalence of adults participating in physical activity sufficient to promote health, research productivity, and national public health policy for physical activity Physical Activity! Emory University is an emerging hub for Physical Activity research. On 24 April 2015, Drs. Michael Pratt and R. L. Felipe Lobelo of the Rollins School of Public Health and the Emory Global Diabetes Research Center, will mark the release of The Lancet’s Physical Activity Observatory’s first-ever, comprehensive, country-by-country report on the status of physical activity around the world.
