Welcome to Pre-Calculus! In this course we will explore polynomial and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions,
trigonometric functions and identities, applications of trigonometry, sequences and series, conics, complex numbers, probability and
vectors.
Textbook: PreCalculus, Larson 4th Edition
Supplies:
• Notebook paper
• Binder or folder
• Pencil
• Calculator is suggested
• Pen
(TI-84 Plus recommended)
• Kleenex, paper towels, or hand sanitizer
Grading:
• Tests: 70%
• Quizzes: 20%
• Homework/Daily grades: 10%
• Semester Exam: 20% of Semester Grade

Pre-AP Course Information:
The opportunities for a student to choose to exit Pre-AP
class are limited to within the 1st 6-weeks and the end of
the 1st semester unless a student receives a failing grade
for a 6-weeks. This decision requires parent/guardian
approval.
Tests & Quizzes:
• Tests will be given on even numbered days.
• At least 2 test are given each 6-weeks.
• Quizzes will be given 1-3 days per week. Pop quizzes may be given at teacher’s discretion.
• If you are absent the day of the test or quiz, you are expected to take the test the next available day.
If you are absent the day of the review, you will be expected to take the test on the assigned test date.
• Study your review, notes, assignments, and quizzes to prepare for tests.
• All tests and quizzes are designed to be completed in the time allotted. Extra time will not be given.
Homework:
• Homework will be assigned almost daily to be completed by the following school day.
• No late work is accepted.
• Homework may be graded or checked for completion.
• Per district guidelines, students absent due to extra-curricular activities must have missed assignments
completed upon returning to class.
• Homework is an essential part of any math class. Concepts will be more fully understood and retained if homework is done
completely and consistently. Do your homework!
Make-up Work:
• If you are absent, you will have as many days as you were absent to complete any make-up work.
• If you are absent it is your responsibility to determine what assignments were missed and turn in any assignment
that was taken for a grade.
• Test make-ups will be given on Tuesdays before school and Thursdays after school. Students with late arrival or early
dismissal may schedule make-up tests and quizzes during that period.
• Tests and quizzes must be made up within one week of returning to school. 10 points will be deducted each day thereafter.
Tutorials:
• Tutorial times will be posted each week in class.
• Tutorial will be held most mornings and afternoons before quizzes and tests.
Class Expectations:
• Students are to come to class on time and prepared. Students will be marked tardy if they are not in class when the bell rings.
• You must show and justify work on all problems. No work, no credit.
• Students should be respectful and courteous to teachers and students at all times.
• Misuse of cell phones and other electronics will result in confiscation.
• Students will abide by all rules in the student handbook at all times.
