THE WIEDMANN BIBLE PRESS RELEASE The World’s Longest Painted Bible For decades the world’s longest painted Bible was hidden in an archive. A mission brought it back to light: „The Wiedmann Bible“. With a length of 1.666 km it is the world’s longest painted Bible. It became the work of Willy Wiedmann’s life. He worked on this hand-painted illustration of exceptional format and sensational extent for 16 long years. He created it in a Polycon painting style, which he had invented during the sixties. The idea for the longest painted Bible was triggered by his work at the Pauluskirche in Zuffenhausen – Stuttgart. He was asked to design the church’s interior. Since the responsible members could not establish a common ground at first, he decided to start sketching a few pictures anyway. What had started with a few paintings ended up in a 3,333 pages bound monumental Leporello (concertina folder). Willy Wiedmann did not intend to simply reflect the Biblical Books, he included messages about what the human race had done to God’s given world. He was well aware that he would not be able to include every single detail. Wiedmann intended, however, to encourage people finding a way to access the Biblical Books. One of many fascinating aspects about „The Wiedmann Bible“ is that one will discover new details each time they dwell on it. Wiedmann had a dream: Making the Bible accessible to the public, especially to illiterates and people with reading disabilities. His first attempt, 20 years ago failed due to the lack of available technology. His children took on the task of making their father’s dream come true. At the Evangelical Church Conference (Deutscher Evangelischer Kirchentag) in Stuttgart (Germany) from June 3-7 2015, it will be introduced to the public for the first time. Since a 3,333 pages book would not be considered a light weight nor fit in any purse, it will be available for all browsers and mobile devices in the form of an App download at the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The users can even create their personal version using the manifold interesting features provided. Since Wiedmann had dedicated his life to the welfare of others, parts of “The Wiedmann Bible’s” project proceeds will be donated to a charity.
