The details of what displays for students and what they can access in Starfish are specific to your institution, but will include
some or all of the following components. If you are someone that has multiple roles, one of which is student, some of these
components may display for you as well. Student Welcome Page
Many institutions use Starfish's student welcome page to give students a quick start using Starfish. This page can be set to
display the first time the student logs in. The student can opt to have the page display on subsequent visits by clicking the box
labeled "Show me this welcome page next time I login to Starfish". If this box is not checked, the student will go directly to the
student dashboard the next time they log in to Starfish.
From this page, the student can go straight to options for making an appointment, customizing their profile or searching for
available services. The student can click the Close button at the bottom of the screen, or select Home from the top level
navigation to go to the student dashboard. New Student User Interface (available for Fall 2014)
If configured on your system, the layout of the student Home page, and access to each of the channels described in detail
below as been redesigned. You will find more information about these updates in this
document: http://dostarfish.com/services/StarfishTrainingMaterials/GetStarted... Student Dashboard
If your institution has the student dashboard version of the home page, you will find it is similar to what staff and faculty receive
when they log in to Starfish, but the channels are a bit different. Depending on your institution's configuration the following
channels will display on the student dashboard: 1. My Success Network This channel displays individuals and services with whom the student has a defined
connection, and where the Starfish Administrator has indicated that the relationship should be displayed to the student.
For example the student's primary advisor, or the tutoring center. Where online scheduling is available through Starfish,
a link from which the student can make an appointment is presented. https://starfish.zendesk.com/entries/25263004AboutthestudentviewofStarfish

2. My Success Path This channel displays flags, kudos, todos, referrals and plans that have been raised on/assigned
to the student. The student has the option to display the items in one of two views: "Time View" lists all of the individual tracking items assigned to the student. In this view, tracking items that
have been resolved will automatically be "Hidden". The student can also hide tracking items from the view by
clicking the Hide button, but cannot clear any items themselves. The student can toggle between the "Active"
and "Hidden" items using the drop down box presented. "Plan View" lists Academic Plans and those tracking items that are part of a Success Plans grouped by plan. In
this view both completed and active items are shown and cannot be hidden by the student. 3. Courses I'm Taking This channel displays the courses in which the student is enrolled, and provides contact
information for the instructor. If the instructor has office hours within which the student can make an appointment, a link
labeled "See Available Appointments" will be listed under the name of the instructor. This listing may also include
services to which the student has access that are related to the course/instructor. For example group sessions for
supplemental instruction. https://starfish.zendesk.com/entries/25263004AboutthestudentviewofStarfish

4. My Messages This channel lists all of the email notifications that Starfish has sent to the student. This may include
appointment notifications, tracking item emails, messages that a staff member sent via Starfish's "Send Message"
option, or notes taken on the student folder where the staff member chose to "cc" the student when creating the note.
The student can click the "View Details" link to view a copy of the email content that was originally sent. Student Profile
The student has the ability to modify their profile similar to a staff member, however they have more limited constraints on what
can be changed. Depending on your institution's setup, they may be able to upload their own photo and specify an alternate
email address at which to receive email. The student can also select reminder settings to receive emails in advance of upcoming appointments. This is in addition to
the notification that will be sent to them via email when the appointment is created. If your institution is using Starfish's intake form, an additional tab will be included in the profile which gives the student the
ability to view the contents of this form. By default this tab is labeled "Survey", but your institution may elect to modify the title
for this tab. https://starfish.zendesk.com/entries/25263004AboutthestudentviewofStarfish

Success Network/ Services Catalog In addition to their personalized "My Success Network" Channel on the dashboard, the student can access the institution wide
services catalog if setup in Starfish. This is reached via the "Success Network" navigation option listed at the top of the page.
This catalog may include general links to services available on campus, or it may provide access to specific services/service
members that have been setup in Starfish. The list of services can also be searched by the student using the search box that
is displayed just under their profile picture and name. One person found this useful. Me too!
