Dublin’s ‘Reflect Yourself
piece made in Donegal
based company
Henry McGinley &Sons
have completed a project
for the St. Patrick’s Festival
in Dublin. The 4.5m tall installation,
entitled Reflect Yourself, was
unveiled in the gardens outside the
Coach House.
Created by Barry Sheehan, Head
of Design at the Dublin Institute of
Technology, the project was designed
and detailed by Milford native,
James McGinley who works in
Dublin for Garland Consultancy.
James is the eldest son of Henry and
Elizabeth McGinley. Others involved
in the project include furniture design
students, Richard May and
Tomas Barisauskas. Reflect Yourself
is a thought-provoking, installation
that explores what specifically prevents
us from reflecting on the past
or wondering about the future. The
project was chosen through an artist
submission process to celebrate the
year of Irish Design 2015.
The project was commissioned after
St. Patrick’s Festival and ID2015
came together to re-imagine public
spaces in Dublin. Taking the present,
and specifically the 2015 Parade
theme ‘Celebrate Now’ as inspiration,
this exciting collaboration aims
to get people to stop and take a moment
out of their busy day to think
about the city differently.

ator Barry Sheehan said: “What’s
been particularly great about this
project is getting the students working
as a team. DIT doesn’t exist in a
vacuum and it’s great to have the
students working with partners from
industry like Garland Consultancy
and Henry McGinley & Sons. Any
architect will tell you that getting an
idea is easy - but turning it into reality
is a long and complex process!”
James McGinley added: “Henry
McGinley & Sons is delighted to be
involved in the ‘Reflect Yourself’
project and it was wonderful to
watch it come to life. It’s a beautiful
piece of work and anyone visiting
Dublin from Donegal can check out
the installation for themselves in the
gardens outside the Coach House at
Dublin Castle this week. The piece
will then be paraded around the city
over the next few months”.
Henry McGinley & Sons recently
celebrated 22 years in business and
is one of the leading suppliers of
structural steel and roofing systems
in the northwest of Ireland.
