The Catholic Community Divine Savior f o Norridge, IL Page Two Palm Sunday March 29, 2015 Dear Friends, On this Passion (Palm) Sunday, gathered as a community in Jesus’ love and sacrifice, we anticipate the great events of our salvation and listen again to the story of how we are saved by God in Christ. We live the dying and rising of our Redeemer daily in our losses and pain, our joys and accomplishments. We unite with the Lord’s passion, a perpetual gift of God’s endless love, and view all that happens to us in the shadow and light of that mystifying core conviction- that in dying and death we find ultimate life. As we enter Holy Week, make it your priority to carve out time to remember and relive all that has happened from God to offer life now and beyond this world. Join us Holy Thursday evening when the worldwide Church assembles to remember the saving act of Christ in the enduring gift of the Eucharist. Keep vigil with Christ on Good Friday, who in agony completes the will of His Father in total surrender. On Saturday evening, in the empty stillness of death and solitude, in union with all whose tombs are made holy by their victorious earthly lives, await the triumphant Redeemer God Hero, who opens the graves of all believers by his conquest of sin, death and evil. Awaken Easter Sunday in joyful and glorious awareness of our life in God, never the same because of Him who saves, loves and lives. Bow your heads as we ask God to bless these human and saving events that tell the story of how much he loves us now and forever. May Easter fill your hearts with joy and wonder in God and His Son alive! Gratefully, Father LoBianco Come and celebrate the great events of our faith commemorating the dying and rising of Christ that gives life to our world, our faith community, and each one of us in our personal relationship with Jesus, whose love has saved us. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday You are invited to come and pray morning prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours at 9:00 AM each of these days in church. Holy Thursday, 7:00PM Liturgy Our children preparing to celebrate the Sacrament of First Eucharist will participate in the procession that brings the Blessed Sacrament to the Altar of Repose that concludes our Liturgy. Good Friday, 3:00PM Liturgy You are invited to place flowers you have brought in adoration at the foot of the Cross of Jesus at the conclusion of the liturgy. During the liturgy, instructions will be given when to come forward to place these flowers in adoration. The annual Good Friday Collection for the Holy Land helps to support the struggling Christian community in the Holy Land and to protect Christianity’s holiest places. Please be generous in your support. Easter Basket Blessing, 12:00 Noon Holy Saturday Your family is invited to bring an offering of canned goods and other non-perishable nourishing foods to share from your basket with the community of Saint Eulalia. (Note: Please place your offerings in the baskets in the church vestibule). Easter Vigil, 7:00PM Liturgy You are invited to bring your own candle from home to light at the service of the word and light during the liturgy (we will also provide candles). You are also invited to bring a small container to take home some of the new holy water blessed during the liturgy. Page Three Palm Sunday A Deep, Biblical Look at Jesus Christ Priest, Prophet, King Father Robert Barron Monday – Wednesday March 30 – April 1 at 6:30PM In Priest, Prophet, King, you’ll discover Jesus as the Anointed One–the ultimate priest, prophet, and king foreshadowed throughout the Hebrew Scriptures. Using biblical insights and engaging stories, Father Barron affirms that we see Jesus most clearly through the lens of the Old Testament. Through this deeply biblical program, you will better understand Jesus, become more familiar with Scripture, and realize your own priestly, prophetic, and kingly mission, received when you are baptized “into Christ.” March 29, 2015 Come, Experience the Labyrinth St. Celestine Parish, 3020 N. 76th Court, Elmwood Park, IL, invites you to discover the positive effects of walking the labyrinth to reflect, meditate, and to realign your deeper self during this Lenten season. We might well ask ourselves just one question: Who am I? Who am I, before my Lord? Who am I, before Jesus who enters Jerusalem amid the enthusiasm of the crowd? Am I ready to express my joy, to praise him? Or do I stand back? Who am I, before the suffering Jesus? (Homily, Palm Sunday and World Youth Day, April 13, 2014) Prayer Group Please place your particular written intentions in the box near the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe, located in the back of the church. The Intercessory Prayer Group will pray over them during their meeting. The Prayer Group meets every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30PM in the Rectory basement. The next meeting is Tuesday, April 14th. The meetings are devoted to praise and thanksgiving, praying, scripture sharing, recitation of the rosary, teachings, songs, and witnessing to the goodness of our Lord. All are welcome.
