Who said you shouldn’t eat dirt? Today we’re making edible dirt cups w/juicy worms.
Later, we’ll create pop bottle fireflies and exotic butterfly bags; then, we’ll head outside
for a nature walk w/bug watching as we get up close to our many-legged friends. Spider
races and creeping, crawling relays end our day. Bring a towel, you may get wet!
Field Trip: Serpentarium
Let’s discover some new and exciting friends at the Edisto Serpentarium. We will explore
the wonderous world of reptiles, learning about crocodiles, turtles, and snakes! When we
return, we’ll head outside to collect materials to make our own nature bugs and silly
snakes.

Field Trip: Royal Lanes Bowling
Can you bowl a strike? Make sure you wear your socks today as we travel to Royal Lanes
Bowling Alley. Let’s add up our scores and see who is our big winner! When we return,
we’ll make gecko and bug sun catchers, and we’ll make our own slithering, slip ‘n slide.
**Don’t forget socks! $ optional for concessions.**

Field Trip: Cypress Gardens
Let’s experience the great outdoors @ Cypress Gardens, where we’ll meet swamp
creatures from around the world. Get up close with birds and butterflies in their natural
habitat. We’ll also see African crocodiles and South American anacondas. We’ll make our
own creepy crawler picture frames and head outside for some swamp games, or you can
cool off inside, watching A Bug’s Life.
**Please pack sun-screen and water bottles. $ optional for concessions**

Today, the reptiles come to us. We’ll have a guest speaker w/ her cold-blooded
companions. We’ll craft our best creepy crawlers and have a show and tell to highlight our
bug week. Greenhouse smore’s will show us how the sun’s energy heats up our cold-blooded
friends. Outside, we’ll have water balloon battles and bucket relays. Bring a towel!

All Around Charleston (June 15th- 19th)
Week 2
This week we’ll explore all the Low Country has to offer, land and sea!
Monday
6/15
We begin our week with a Low Country scavenger hunt. Team up with your friends to
locate the missing prizes. We are going to learn how to make a sweet grass rose or basket
using palmetto leaves. We will also have Gullah storytelling and create our very own
palmetto tree. You’ll need to bring a towel because we’re going to get wet in our water
wars!
**Please bring a towel and change of clothes.**

Field Trip: Splash Zone
Splash on over with us to Splash Zone for a fun day of water activities in paradise. Don’t
forget to lather up the sunscreen! Once we get back, we’ll make some shell art picture
frames and cool down with a movie or win fun prizes playing splash bingo.
**Please rememeber sun-screen, swimsuit, & towel. $ optional for concessions.**

Field Trip: Ft. Sumter w/Boat Tour
See a part of history up close as we visit the site where the first shots of the Civil War
were fired. Just sit right back, and we’ll cruise on over to Ft. Sumter on a boat tour.
Once back on dry land, we’ll design our own t-shirts, make t-shirt purses, and bedazzle our
flip-flops.
**Please bring sun-screen, water bottles, and an old t-shirt**

Field Trip: Children’s Museum
Let’s head to downtown Charleston and visit the Children’s Museum, where we can do
everything from sail a ship, storm a castle, or paint a pretty beach scene. Later, we’ll
warm up our vocal chords with a karaoke contest. Our crafts include fusion beads and key
chains.
Bus departs @ 8:30 and returns @ 3:00.
On your mark…get set…build the best sand castle you can in under fifteen minutes!
Also, does your boat have what it takes to stay afloat? Join us for our sand and sea
races, indoor dance party, and balloon bounce games. Make a paper maché balloon piñata
and fill it with tiny trinkets. For a snack, we’ll eat some down home country grits.

Pirate Week (June 22nd – 26th)
Week 3
Ahoy, shipmates! Join us on a swashbuckling quest for treasure and more.
Monday
6/22
“X” may mark the spot for some treasure, but you’ll have to work harder to find this one!
Team up to hunt for our lost pirate coins and gems. We’ll create our very own newspaper
sabers and pirate spyglasses. Argh! Get ready to sink your neighbor’s battleship using
water cannon balls. Bring a towel; you will get wet!

Field Trip: Splash Island
Let’s all walk the plank and cool off at Splash Island in Mt. Pleasant. Later, we’ll make and
decorate chests to hold all our treasure. We’ll play shipwreck games or come inside to
watch Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.

Field Trip: Pirate Storytelling and Folly Beach
Today we journey across the ocean and explore the surf of Folly Beach. We’ll collect
shells and sand dollars and other surfside treasures. Sit back, and we’ll listen as a reallife pirate tells about his quest for adventure sailing the deep blue sea. When we return,
we’ll make our own antiqued treasure maps and seashell art.
**Please bring swimsuit, towel, sunscreen. $ optional for concessions**

Field Trip: Charlestowne Landing
Today we will learn about South Carolina’s history as we embark on a fun filled adventure
to Charlestowne Landing. Explore a pirate ship, hiking trails, museum, and animals in the
wild. We’ll make pirate ship plates and head outside for capture the flag.
**Please remember sunscreen and water bottles**
Bus departs @ 9:00am and returns @ 4pm.
See a fire truck up close as our local fire department visits us. We’ll learn about fire
safety and cool down under the spray from the fire hose. Bring a towel and extra clothes;
you will get wet! Also, we’ll play sharks and minnows, walk the plank, noodle fencing, and
other pirate adventure games.

Tropical Paradise (June 29th – July 3rd)

Break out your hula skirts and let’s have some fun in the sun!

Let’s have a Hawaiian luau. We’ll greet you with a lei and music! Aloha! Experience an
authentic luau with limbo and Hawaiian dancing. We’ll bring the beach to us with sand art
bracelets and witness our own volcano erupt.

Field Trip: Whirlin’ Waters
Splish splash, we’ll take a dash to Whirlin’ Waters water park. Relax in the lazy river, ride
the waves of the wave pool, and zip down the racing slides for our fun-filled water day in
the sun. Later, we’ll paint some tropical sun catchers and play land and sea.

Field Trip: Isle of Palms Beach
We’re off on a beach adventure to Isle of Palms County Park. Have an outdoor picnic
lunch, then chuck our shoes and bury our toes in the sand. We’ll play beach volleyball,
build sand castles, or fly a kite. Let’s fill our bellies with edible lei bracelets.
**Please bring swimsuit, towel, & sunscreen. $ optional for concessions**

Field Trip: Oakbrook Cinema
Let’s go “sea” a movie at Movies 8 in Ladson. Can you smell the popcorn? Later, we’ll shake
our hips for our Hawaiian hula contest. Design your own tropical Hibiscus flower and
handmade lei.

Say Aloha! to Tropical Paradise Week with an at home beach party, including beach bingo
and a musical beach towel game. We’re also going to make tropical magnets and pineapple

dance along with your favorite Hawaiian tunes.

Finding Atlantis (July 13th-17th)
Week 5
Let’s explore beneath the deep blue sea for hidden adventures!
Monday
7/13
This week we’ll explore the mysteries under the sea. We will have a guest speaker to talk
about water safety as we travel ocean to ocean. You can create your own underwater
aquarium and ocean in a bottle. Bring a towel; we’re going to have outdoor water fun with
water balloons, bucket relays, and slip and slide races. Afterwards, we’ll cool off with an
ice cream sundae you create.
**Please bring towel and a change of clothes.**

Who is ready for fun in the sun? Let’s swim over to Splash Island in Mt. Pleasant. Back at
the school, we’ll pick teams for beach volleyball and kickball. How creative can you get

We have planned a trip to Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park for Splash Day. Let’s slide down
inflatable slides, play games, get wet, and enjoy the fun! Let’s slow down with Finding
Atlantis when we return and make origami fish.

Field Trip: Aquarium
Come and enjoy sea life at our South Carolina Aquarium. Experience an underwater
adventure; get up close to sharks, fish, and a giant turtle. Pet the stingrays and
horseshoe crabs. Stamp your passport for the safari adventure. Create your own
watercolor coral reef and play fishtail bingo.

Let’s dive deep into adventure on our last day in Atlantis. Let’s enjoy water and fishing
pole relays, jump the ship, water balloon toss, and a sponge bucket challenge. Make a

Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
Monday

Welcome to Camelot! This week we will look for our favorite characters and friends in the
tales we love! Today, our knights will defend our princesses. We will have horse racing
and noodle jousting. Our knights will make their own family crests for their shields, and
our princesses will create their own tiaras. Craft your own marionette pony or golden
goblet. Can you pull the sword from the stone? Who has the magic touch?

Field Trip: Chuck E Cheese
Hickory, dickory, dock… We’re headed to Chuck E Cheese today! Are you ready to show
off your singing and dancing skills with Chuck E? Let’s try our luck with ski-ball, the
ticket wheel, and whack-a-mole. See how many tickets you can get to earn an awesome
prize. Try your hand at our mouse maze.

Field Trip: Carolina Ice Palace
Today we’re going on a cold and icy trip to the Carolina Ice Palace and get “Frozen.”
Bundle up for an exciting day of ice skating. Do you want to build a snowman? We’ll make
an edible Olaf and stained-glass windows. Warm up with hot chocolate while we watch
Frozen.
**Please bring long-sleeved shirt, jeans, and socks to skate. $ optional for

Field Trip: Bee City
Discover the Bear Necessities of life at Bee City. See if you can find Jungle Book
characters Mowgli and Baloo, but watch our for Kaa in the Reptile Exhibit. Later, we’ll
create our own Jungle Book character. For outdoor fun, we’ll have bear crawls, elephant
races, and tiger wars.

Can you find your way out of the woods? Hansel and Gretel did… Let’s go on a hike and
leave a bread trail to find your way home. You can construct and decorate your own

Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, Mother May I, and outdoor relay games.

Dig out your goggles and lab coat, and let’s have some fun!

7/27
Today, we’ll look to the stars and explore our galaxy. Discover our constellations…Can you
spot the Big Dipper? Take off your shoes and enter our very own StarLab. Let’s create a
foil moonman and a miniature solar system. Our guest speaker will be a CSI (Crime Scene
Investigator), teaching us about evidence collection and crime solving. Try your foot at
kickball and hand at badmitton.

Field Trip: Splash Day w/ River Dogs
Take me out to the ball game! Let’s get wet with the River Dogs. Today we will watch the
River Dogs battle against the Greenville Drive, as we splash our friends and neighbors.
Once we dry off, you can create your own flubber and perform a color experiment with
Skittles! If you’re up to bat, we’ll have playground fun.

Field Trip: Royal Lanes
The laws of physics are in motion at Royal Lanes. Can you pick up your spare or are you in
the gutter? Let’s do a taste and smell sensory test. Guess what you’re eating! We’re
making colorful lava lamps and teaming up for tug-of-war and relays.

Field Trip: Channel 2 w/ Rob Fowler and Mt. Pleasant Pier Park
Our forecast today is to meet our very own weatherman, Rob Fowler, and see how the
news is broadcast! Afterwards, we’ll head over to Mt. Pleasant Pier Park for a picnic in
the park. Walk along the pier, and you can see sea life and boats in the harbor. Enjoy
nautical playground fun under the bridge. We’ll check which way the wind blows with our
own weather vanes and experiment with the color spectrum.

Defy gravity in our very own jump castle, and we’ll bounce the morning away! Create salt
dough fossils and make your own kaleidoscope. Later, let’s see what we can blow up! We
