Frameworq’s Upcycling Project – Exhibition and Workshop at Dudoc In 2014, Irina Molohovski started a Social Entrepreneurship program with Groundswell Grassroots Economic Alternatives, realizing that the real passion that drives her is the appreciation to beauty, creativity and innovation and how it all can be translated into a retail model where consumers, designers and retailers are working in collaboration to create a sustainable Circular Economy model. And that is how Frameworq was born. Frameworq is a design lab, practicing the principles of Circular Economy through a series of Upcycling workshops and a developing store and a studio for upcycled, re‐
used and re‐purposed clothing and accessories. Recently, Frameworq completed a 2 month Upcycling project featuring 12 independent designers and another collaboration with the Art Institute of Vancouver fashion design students to explore different ways to upcycle post‐consumer materials into practical every day wear. Frameworq presentation The purpose of this presentation is to introduce the concept of upcycling with textiles as a way to communicate the message of sustainability to multiple sectors such as consumers, retailers and designers in a positive way to drive change and the transformation to Circular Economy. We’ll tell you all about Frameworq. The incredible lessons we learned and the conclusions we found during the 2 months of Frameworq’s Upcycling Project with 12 designers and the collaboration with the Art Institute of Vancouver when introducing upcycling to Fashion design students. But that’s not all; we’ll conclude the presentation with hands on mini upcycling workshop and together convert used T‐shirts into great and practical grocery bags (no sewing).
