Upcycled
Recyclables!
Science Olympiad!
Upcycling (verb): The
process of converting
old or discarded materials into something
useful and often beautiful.
Project idea: Superhero Capes
• Materials: Old, adult size t-shirts,
felt (optional), glitter paint (optional)
• Using sharp scissors cut up the side
of each shirt across the back of the
arms and around the front of the
neck hole.
•
Decorate if desired.
Visit www.apartmenttherapy.com/useold-tshirts-to-make-custom-122685 for
complete directions and photos.
Upcycling is Green
Upcycling makes a positive impact on the
environment. When you upcycle, you
remove items from the global garbage
stream. Upcycling instead of recycling is
good too; recycling requires energy or
water to break down materials. Upcycling
only requires your own creativity and
elbow grease.

CAMP students visit Princeton University!
TEECS’ CAMP students visited Princeton University.
They attended a class about math games and tricks
taught by a doctorate student in the Department of
Economics. They then were given a college tour.
They had a great time and it was great exposure for
the students.
CAMP is a College Acceptance Mentoring Program
for selected 6th grade students. It focuses on
contributing to the academic achievement and
