Quality Support Center and Fast Pace NC
The Eastern AHEC Quality Support Center, a component of the NC AHEC Practice Support Center, assists 206
practices and 621 providers with electronic health record (EHR) implementation, workflow redesign, meaningful
use attainment, and improving clinical outcomes through the utilization of quality improvement, the Model for
Improvement and an emphasis on the Chronic Care Model. We provide practice coaching, facilitation, support
and education in these areas.
Our work is aimed at transforming the way we deliver healthcare by giving doctors the tools, systems and
support they need to provide consistently high quality care to all patients all the time. We provide in-office
assistance to practices to improve quality of care, efficiency and satisfaction for both patients and the
healthcare team. The NC AHEC Practice Support System has been effective at improving outcomes around
hypertension, asthma, diabetes, and tobacco use and cessation. The use of data, health IT, and evidencebased protocols to drive improvement is effective. We are happy to announce that we will be working together
with the Cecil G. Sheps Center, Community Care of North Carolina (CCNC), and the NC Health Information
Exchange (NC HIE) to continue our work through a project which will be known as FAST PACE NC.






Please see below for a summary of this new initiative we are very excited about:
Optimizing the use of the EHR to pull clinical quality data on a monthly basis to guide the change process
Developing patient registries to identify needed care and outliers from the full population of patients for the
practice whether they’ve had recent visits or not
Promoting a strong use of decision support tools and templates to support the practice workflow
Proactive, team-based care with assigned roles and responsibilities to prepare the clinical team to develop
needed care and engage patients throughout the entire visit process
Implementing evidence-based protocols and the use of clinical algorithms to engage the entire clinical team
in a high standard delivery of care including the use of standing orders and clinical decision support tools in
the EHR
Enhancing self-management support for patients within the practice with a highly motivated and
knowledgeable team and/or with a strong referral and follow up process to utilize external resources to
support the patient
As we work together with the Sheps Center, CCNC,
and NC HIE you may begin to hear more about FAST

 The pre-registration deadline for most programs is
one week prior to the workshop date.

 Walk-ins are accepted for most programs based on
availability.

Evaluations and certificates are now available
electronically following each program. To receive the
link to your evaluation, provide an email address with
your registration and a link will be sent immediately
following the program. You can also follow the steps
below to access your evaluation and certificate. Once
you’ve completed the evaluation your certificate will
appear and will be stored online for future use.
