EAST BURWOOD FOOTBALL CLUB E ST 1911 RAMPAGE On Tuesday evening the EBFC Senior Committee met to review the club’s progress this season. Part President: of the review inRob Peak cluded meeting with the Senior Coach to gain his input and assessment of the situation. Clearly the on field results have been disappointing to all concerned, especially given the consensus that at least two of the games played this year were considered winnable by all involved. There is no panic, however the next two home games against Mulgrave and Scoresby will clearly define the 2015 season for the club and where we can expect to be in 2016. One of the other matters raised, was the composition of the Senior Committee itself. With the resignations of Colleen Tainton and Jacob Gooden, plus the unavailability of Keith Putt due to serious health issues, we are seriously strained and under resourced at an administrative level. A couple of possible candidates were identified and will be contacted over the next few days, however I urge anyone associated with the Rams, past or present, who would like to help spread the workload, to contact me or any other of the Committee members. From an administrative perspective EBFC will compile a detailed players register covering contact details, work profession etc. to ensure all members of the club can be easily contacted and projects requiring external assistance can be resourced through those associated with the club. By way of example: Our canteen manager Val wishes to have her home re-wired and is seeking the services of an appropriately qualified electrician to undertake the work. If anyone is interested, please contact Val directly. Additionally we still require carpentry work on the internal stairs in the scoreboard, as well as the replacement of the viewing windows. David Wright-Neville is the best contact for these tasks. On a more proactive front, the Committee has decided to appoint an Under 19’s coach for the 2016 season as soon as possible in 2015. Rather than wait to the eleventh hour, it is the target for the Rams to have its Under 19 team for 2016 well in place before the end of this year. Those interested in being involved in this project should contact Andy Worner in the first instance. Granted we played against two very formidable, talented and physically strong opponents, but we are at a loss to offer up any feasible excuses for our unwillingness to stand up and fight, both as Senior Coach David Calthorpe individuals, and as a team. Sadly from a collective point of view, only a East Burwood 5 0 5 0 205 544 37.68 handful of our players are able to hold their heads up in any of Goal Kickers: these categories. As Senior coach, I take responsibility for not B. Gutterson 3, M. McKenzie demanding more of an effort from this group of players, but make Best Players: no mistake, I am not giving up and I want every Rams supporter T. Smith , C. Nayna , B. Gutterson , C. O'Malley , to know, that we will sort out the players who are willing to S. Bramstedt , C. O'Reilly commit to do whatever it takes, to get our great Club back to Leading Goal Kicker: where it should be. Round 4 We knew this week against Croydon was going to be a big ask. But as we prepared, I felt we were focused enough to give it a real crack. Before the game we spoke about the importance of winning contested footy and I also put it on a couple of blokes who needed to improve and have more of a presence in the game. The 1st quarter I was really pleased by the way we went Reserves Coach: about it. We were all in having a real crack and first to Craig O’Malley the footy, it seemed we had Croydon on the back foot. Was also pleased with the boys I put it to before the game, who responded well to the Rev up. Unfortunately after quarter time all this hard work and commitment had seemed to be lost. And basically from there, Croydon showed why they’re on top of the ladder and simply ran away with it. The reserves as an entire group just can't except that these performances are good enough. We must be stronger and harder at the footy and in the mind. One quarter of footy just simply won't cut it. So we must work in these areas this week and head to Doncaster to put it all into practice. Choc Round 5 After loosing a couple of blokes to injury last week and a couple more already injured and not quite ready to go this week, we went into the game with 15 fit players. I still didn't want us to use this as an excuse, but the bottom line was, they had six on the bench and we basically had none. With a strong breeze against us in the 1st quarter, I was still reasonably happy that we were still within 4 goals. But unfortunately we couldn't use the breeze in the 2nd quarter as well as we should’ve and from there we were just chasing tale. We obviously ran out of legs far too early, but I suppose it was always going to happen when you’re light on numbers. In saying that, I was still pleased with the efforts of some, especially those through the midfield who basically ran and tried all day. This week we should get a few back and be much more competitive. The next two weeks especially are massive for both grades and the whole club as Mulgrave and Scoresby aren't going that well either. So again we regroup and work on the basics and implement them more next Saturday and we will get much closer to our first win. To achieve this, the EBFC Committee have decided to seek and appoint an Under 19’s coach this year, with the view to assembling at least one team for 2016. The club’s approach will be innovative and different, offering potential players a great opportunity to play at a top class home ground facility on a low cost basis. Those interested in applying for the position, can send their application together with a brief resume to the EBFC Junior President, Andy Worner at [email protected] . Any players wishing to play next year at the Under 19’s level for East Burwood can also leave their contact details with Andy. This team has showed great resilience and strength over recent weeks and last weekend they were rewarded with a come from behind win against Rowville. Congratulations to all the boys and particularly the coaching staff led by Jarred Stafford. We look forward to continued development and progress from this group of boys. Our Under 12 team had a great fighting win last weekend as well as our Under 14 C and Under 14 A team. Whilst the wins are nice, the pleasing aspect is the development of the players. This is particularly the case with our two Under 9 teams and the Under 10 and 11 boys. Some great players and great coaches certainly help. Congratulations to Matthew Mundos from our Under 14 team. Matt has been advised this week that he has been selected to play for Victoria in the Under 15 team. This achievement by itself is sensational, but even more meritorious when you consider Matt is just one of 4 boys in the state to be selected in this team as a bottom age player. Matthew will play in the national carnival to be held in Geelong later this year. We wish Matt all the best for this and will keep you all updated on his progress. Our major fundraising event for the year will be held on Saturday 13 June in the clubrooms - EBJFC Comedy Night. We would like to invite all members of the club to this event. Please see Andy Worner, John Brady or Paul Davidson for more details. This event will be sold out, so please book in early for what promises to be a great night. Next weekend v Scoresby we have organised some grid games during half-time of the senior game. Our Auskick centres will be attending, so please ensure you support our smallest Rams on the day. Go Rams Andy Worner V OLUNTEERS Volunteers are once again needed this week as we have a home game . If you can spare some time, please contact David Wright-Neville or Peter White. We also need supporters to come along this week and barrack hard to get our Boy’s over the line. There’s nothing like a win to lift morale around the club. So come on down . East Burwood Darts Club Ramrods on the March Round 7 The Ramrods took on our senior team and showed that it takes a total commitment from all team members to have a win. The Ramrods played the best Darts they have played for some time, they were almost unstoppable with the highlight being a 120 peg by Wayne Putt in the doubles and a 180 by TonyCrampton. Going into the singles the Ramrods were 5-0 needing only one singles win for Victory. The Rammers being the top side they are started to take the ascendency winning the next 4 games, but Tony won his match thus handing Ramrods the victory 6-5 well played Ramrods it was a great win. Round 8 The Rammers were shocked back into action with their loss to the Ramrods the previous week to have a tremendous win over top side the Sports Stars. Ash White was on fire with a 180 and the team pegging extremely well, they recorded a convincing win 8-3. The Ramrods continued there great form to defeat the Rear Guards 7-4 Tony has started playing the darts we know he’s capable of and the other team members have lifted and are now playing with more team spirit and encouragement. Next week the Rammers take on arch rivals the Dales and the Ramrods take on top side the Ringwood Aces. Question - can the Ramrods take another scalp ?
