EASTON RECREATION DEPARTMENT 2015 SPRING PROGRAMS Annual Egg Hunt (ages 2-8) The Recreation Department invites you to hop over to the Town Offices 136 Elm Street, Sunday April 12th, for this exciting event. Don’t forget to bring your basket for carrying eggs and wear your boots! There will be separate sections for different age groups and a special visit from the bunny. The hunt begins at 11am sharp! In case of inclement weather, the rain date is Saturday April 18th. Please call the cancellation line at 508-238-3084 for rescheduling information. The cost is $3 per child. No advanced registration required. “Run for Rec” Road Race The Easton Recreation Department is excited to announce our “Run for Rec” Road Race. This is a 5K run or walk on Mother’s Day Weekend, Saturday May 9th at 9:30AM. This is a brand new course starting at Edwin A. Keach Park. The cost is $25.00 or $15.00 for ages 18 and under. Please register online at WWW.Racewire.com. Any questions please call 508-238-3084. Running Club (grades K-2) We are now offering this popular program to grades K-2. This 5 week program will include warm ups, running, running games and ending with stretching and a cool down. This program will meet on Wednesdays April 29th – May 27th 3:45-4:45. Please meet the instructor at the Parkview School back field (at the swing sets). The cost is $35.00 per child. Space is limited, please register early. The deadline to register is Friday April 17th. Running Club (grades 3-5) Join this popular 5-week program taking place after school at the Parkview field on Thursdays April 30th – May 28th. This program will include warm ups, running, running games and ending with stretching and a cool down. Participants in grades 3-5 will meet from 2:45-4:00PM and the cost is $44 per child. A Recreation Department staff member will escort children in grades 3-5 to the Parkview field at dismissal. The deadline to register is Monday April 28th “Peter Pan” Musical Theatre Class (ages 5-15) Come join the fun and take part in a musical theatre performance. In this 8-week program children will learn the basics of putting together a production, including singing, dancing and acting. Boys and girls will audition for a role in a musical rewritten along the theme of the original “Peter Pan”. The program is held on Thursdays, April 16th – June 18th (no class 4/23 and 4/30) from 6:30-8:00PM at the Easton Middle School auditorium. The last class and performance will take place Thursday June 18th from 6:30-8:00PM with the performance beginning at 7:00PM. Costumes are encouraged, but not necessary. The cost is $125 per child. The deadline to register is Monday April 13th Hip Hop Dance Class (ages 5-10) Come join in on the fun of learning the latest dance moves to the most popular music out right now! Students will learn various dances to popular songs. This class incorporates choreography and different forms of freestyle movement. At the end of the program children will hold a short performance for family and friends. This 8-week program takes place Thursdays, April 16th – June 18th (no class 4/23 and 4/30) from 5:30-6:30PM at the Easton Middle School auditorium. The cost is $105 per child. The deadline to register is Monday April 13th Youth and Adult Kayaking (ages 12-adult) We are offering kayaking trips in conjunction with Norton Kayak Company, www.nortonkayakco.com. All trips take place on the Norton Reservoir, 237 Mansfield Ave, in Norton. They include kayak and gear rental, paddling lessons and safety instruction from an A.C.A. certified instructor. All paddles offered are for ages 12+ and cost $60 for ages 12-17 and $65 per adult, per person per paddle. The Family Paddle will take place on Sunday, May 3rd 4:30pm–sunset and Sunday, June 28th 9am–12pm. After School Fishing Paddle will take place on Friday May 29th from 4pm–sunset and Wednesday, June 24th 4pm–sunset (please bring your own fishing equipment). The After School Paddle will take place on Friday, May 15th (early release day) 2pm–5pm. The Mom’s Paddle will take place on Monday May 18th 4:30pm–sunset and Monday, June 1st 5:30pm –sunset. Space is limited, please register early! Art Lessons (grades 3-5) Learn drawing, coloring, screen printing, lettering, pounce patterns and stamping in this fun and exciting 5-week program. Instruction will be given by local artist, Frank Holub. Please come to class with heavy weight paper, quality colored pencils, markers, a black sharpie and pastel pencils, if available. Frank will also share his tools and materials throughout class. This program is held on Mondays, April 27th – June 1st (no class 5/25) at Frothingham Hall, 15 Barrows Street.
